Sunday Post #127

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer

I'm glad January is almost over, this month has gone by fast and I'm happy about that. I'm looking forward to spring even if the winter has been mild for the most part. We didn't get the blizzard that came through last weekend but it has been cold here- I'm ready for warm breezes. And it did snow midweek. I did get some reading in and watched a few shows- I haven't done very good with catching premieres but I've been binging Orphan Black.

I wasn't sure I'd like Orphan Black at first but after a few episodes I love it. It's pretty funny too- some good writing. Hard to believe the same actress plays all the different clones.

In stray cat news- he (or she) is still around, but I still haven't gotten close. I put out a box with a blanket to sleep in, but I don't know if he's using it. Whenever I peek out there late at night or in the morning he's not in it, but the food still disappears. :) So...

  1. Ooooh that LotR picture is gorgeous ♥!! I love it, thank you so much for sharing :) I've been meaning to get into Orphan Black for a while now - hoping to finally do so soon so I'm excited to see that you're enjoying it! Oh I hope that stray cat lets you befriend it soon hehe! Have a great weekend Greg!

    1. I love it too. And Orphan Black is awesome- but I had to get through an episode or two before I liked it. I wasn't sure at first, so stick with it maybe if you're not impressed right off the bat.

I think the cat might be warming up a bit- today he saw me through the window and kinda watched me while he ate. But then he took again. Very skittish!

  2. I really enjoyed the first season of Orphan Black but for some reason never went back to the series. Sanctuary Bay has been following lately. I've seen it everywhere which I think is a sign I should buy it! Have a great week!

    1. I just started S2 of Orphan Black and the first twp episdoes were good. I hate buying the episodes so I may slow down a bit- -I wish Netflix would stream it! And Sancutary Bay is new to me too- I think I just saw it last week for the first time, and liked the sound of it. It does seem to be making the rounds. :)

  3. I was on Netflix quite a bit this week, and noticed Orphan Black...I should try it. I am in between series, waiting for the fourth season of House of Cards.

Sanctuary Bay looks like a tempting book. Enjoy your week! Here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES

  4. "In stray cat news..." is such a great way to start a paragraph lol. Well, I'm sure he/she appreciates the food even if the bed is going unused. I'm ready for winter to be over too though. I'm just not good with cold, so bring on the heat already!

    1. LOL I hadn't thought of that but it is a rather unusual update isn't it? :P It's been kinda fun watching his comings and goings this week, I have to say...

I'm hating the cold and so over winter... I'm ready for the heat too!

  5. Sanctuary Bay and The Immortals look appealing to me. Glad you aren't getting as much snow, though too bad about the cold weather for the stray kitty. Maybe you can contact a feral cat organization and they can put out a humane trap to bring it to a shelter...
Loved the musical clip. I don't watch Game of Thrones but I enjoyed that music. We love anything Renaissance Faire!

Oh... and I wish I could actually go to the Misty Mountains! It was filmed in New Zealand (as I know you know) and I knew a person online whose grandparents "lived in the Misty Mountains" where they filmed it, and posted pics online of the real place. Just wow!

    1. I think those both sound good too. Looking forward to both. And yeah I've been trying to figure out where he goes, I thought he was someone's cat in the area but just not sure.

I love Renaissance faire time and look forward to the seasons starting up again soon!

  6. Winter has been pretty mild for us too. We were lucky enough to miss the snow storm that came through.

Love the Star Wars characters meeting their equivalents from the new movie. :)

Thanks for sharing a link to my Ladyhawke review.

You are welcome- it was nice to see an older movie like that spotlighted.

Glad the weather wasn't so bad for you, we had snow here today which has been heavy all day but will be gone tomorrow as it warms up. The weather is freaky!

    Have a good week!

Snow sucks basically, yeah I know I was all on about it a week or so ago, but I'm over it. LOL. Ready to move on, nothing to see here... hope your weather improves, we had some sun today.

  8. I didn't mind S1 of Orphan Black but it went downhill after that. I'm up to date, but not sure I'll tune in when it returns...

And... at least the poor cat is getting fed, so that's probably all you can do!

    1. Did it? Yikes that's good to know. I just watched the first two of S2 and liked 'em, but I'm not that far along yet... yeah the cat comes to eat but doesn't stick around, he looks healthy... could be someone's outdoor cat for all I know.

  11. I've heard many people say January was fast for them! I guess somehow for me too because it has been indeed a mild winter. I started some seeds for spring already! :) The Immortals looks good! looking forward to your reviews. I'm pretty sick right now and my eyes are shutting down so off now to check all your wonderful videos before I go to sleep. GoT!!!!! yeahhh! Just want to say hello before I crashed!:)

  12. We've had some snow in January, though it was very little. And afterwards the temperatures rose up high again so it didn't feel like Winter here some moments.

I've heard of Orphan Black, but I have yet to check it out. Good to hear it is worth it though.

  13. Orphan Black is one of the few shows I actually watch these days Greg (still catching up on Season 3), and I love how there are so many different things going on, plus, clones!
Are you sure it's a cat who comes to eat your food? Maybe it's a fox? :p Anyway, I hope the cat stays warm, even if s/he doesn't stay long enough to be seen.
Have a wonderful week ahead and happy reading.

I am wanted to see Orphan Black but haven't gotten a chance yet. I heard mixed things but I would like to try it myself.

Maybe the cat has a family and comes by you to eat too. I know a lot of "strays" do that but I wouldn't give up the box yet just in case it does get super cold he/she will have some place to go.

Have a great week, Greg! Happy Reading!

    1. I know it! :) I hope you try Orphan Black if you get a chance- it's a trip. I wasn't sure of the first few episodes, so if you do try it stick with it- it gets good (and kinda hilarious) as it goes.

I was thinking the same thing about the cat. He (or she) doesn't seem too stray- ish if you know what I mean, looks pretty clean and I've seen him in the neighbors' too- he seems to visit the same few places. :) So yeah- I'm keeping the box out just in case.

I haven't watched Orphan Black. Maybe someday. I have too many shows at the moment! Did you watch Legends of Tomorrow?

  32. Both Sanctuary Bay and The Immortals look good! This has been such a weird winter... on the mild side at home (we also missed the big blizzard), but unbelievably wet here in SW Florida. Everybody is blaming El Nino! Hope the cat finally comes around, but at least the food is being eaten. Patience...

  33. I watched the first season of Orphan Black and was hooked, but the second season didn't hold me as much - I'm yet to finish that. I'm currently continuing with House on Netflix after binging season 6 of The Good Wife in less than a week... Oops.

Both your incoming books looks interesting. I also really enjoyed Cait @ Paper Fury's post about reading too much - she shares some really great discussion posts over there.

Oh glad to see you are enjoying Orphan Black. I wasn't sure if I'd like it with the same actress as so many characters. But it really feels like they are all different actors. lol. It's great to watch and gets crazy with where the storyline goes! I can't wait for the next season to start. :)

  39. Stray cat situations can be hard. A few years ago we had one. He was a beautiful black cat we called Phantom. Declawed, sweet. But there was no way to keep him so we took him to the humane society. I don't know what's better. Let them be homeless or take them in? The snow came shortly after that so I feel like we made a good choice.

    1. Yeah it's hard to know what to do. For now I'm leaving him alone cause I suspect he might be someone's outdoor cat, and he seems to be doing fine- he's not all dirty or bedraggled or anything. He comes, he eats, he moves on... I think he's alright. :)

It sounds like you did the right thing though. Declawed he would have had a hard time surviving i would think. I can't get close enough to this one to tell if he (or she) is declawed or not...
