Cover Characteristics

Cover Characteristics is a meme by Sugar and Snark- every week a characteristic is selected and we post 5 books with that week's theme.

This week was kinda tough- I didn't find a lot of covers with mirrors, and when I did sometimes I didn't want to use them. So yeah- it's not just finding the covers, it's finding ones I like. Way to make it harder I guess, right? Well, on that note- here we go. Cover with mirrors that pass a very stringent screening process. :)

Moonraker (James Bond, #3)Mirrored

They do it with Mirrors (Miss Marple, #6)Broken Mirrors (Marla Mason, #5)

The Christie one has that old school look to it, and a bit of poison spilled on the mirror which I kinda like. And Objects in Mirror struck me as a thriller at first- I saw the headlights in the mirror and thought someone was being followed. Turns out it's actually an essay book and not fiction at all... I like my take on it better. :)

My favorite? Probably this one. I don't think it's a great cover, but I do kinda like the reflection in the mirror. There's not a lot to it but it does fit into the theme of those redesigned Bond covers. I imagine they all look good together on the shelf.

Moonraker (James Bond, #3)

Runner up would be this one- I guess. I like the vines around the lettering and the fact that there's  a different reflection in the mirroe- and the woods in the background. It's an effective cover.

Mirrored

So... which one is your favorite? I didn't have any this week I really loved, Im hoping next week will be better. With the topic next week being moons, I suspect that will be easier... and there should be some good choices!

  1. I always love a Christie cover! I like your interpretation of Objects in the Mirror too. I can imagine this topic was a challenge but you found some good ones!

    1. I liked that one, with the poison and the mirror. :) And I was a little disappointed that Objects in Mirror wasn't a thriller- I thought, ooh someone's following them. LOL.

This one was tough, and looking ahead there are some hard ones coming up too...

  2. So apparently I missed out on Mirrored since I had never seen it but everyone used it, and I love it! It's so pretty. But I also like the reflection in Moon Raker, and Broken Mirrors has nice art.

Believe it or not though, I'm having a harder time finding moon covers I like lol.

    1. Are you? I was thinking moons might be easier, but maybe not. I had a hard time with this one, actually. I agree those three are the best. Moonraker and Mirrored I somehow found right away, and the others took a while- I initially found some vintage covers but I didn't really like them. So they didn't make the cut. :)

It is fun searching tho. :)

  3. I love the Mirrored cover...really makes me want to see what the book is all about! And I agree...I love when the reflection doesn't match the object being reflected.

    1. Yeah I'm curious too. I'm assuming it's a fairytale retelling, but maybe not? I like the vines and the font...

  4. I like the one with the side mirror too! For some reason it looked suspenseful to me. :)

  6. I love the Agatha Christie cover - maybe because I'm just looking at older style covers at the moment but I think that one's great.
