Sunday Post #119
The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer
This week was Thanksgiving and it's a four day weekend. I plan on doing a bit of reading and some Netflix too. I started watching Black Sails and I kinda like it. Anne Bonny is awesome. It's not on Netflix though so I've been buying the episodes at Amazon. I also listened to the Super Serials podcast of the Hunger Games (thank you Katherine for recommending this one) - that was fun.
The weather was hit or miss this week. It warmed up mid week but will be cooler this weekend. The sun is out a bit as I write this, after two days of rain- Thanksgiving was rainy.
This week will be another Cover Characteristics, as well as Top Ten Tuesday and a Star Wars post on Wednesday where I will discuss my thoughts on the upcoming movie.
I've decided to join the Cloak and Dagger challenge hosted by Books, Movies, Reviews Oh My! I almost did this one last year and thought this year I'll take the plunge. I don't do a lot of challenges but this one looks fun.
SciFi Month runs all through November- you can check out the details here. #RRSciFiMonth and @SciFiMonth.
And... Little Red Reviewer this week announced Vintage Science fiction Month is returning in January. You can find all the details here.
I am going to go check out the vintage sci fi month as that poster is very cool. I hope you had a good Thanksgiving plus a four day weekend sounds amazing! Enjoy your reads and have a good week!
ReplyDeleteThanksgiving was great, and 4 days off is not bad ! Vintage SciFi Month is fun, I did it last year and enjoyed it - it's a nice way to continue on after SciFi Month (gonna miss that) and after the holidays it's something to do in bleak January. :)
DeleteI've heard a lot of good things about Need, I really hope you like it! Black Sails is new to me but I'm definitely curious about it now!
ReplyDeleteBlack Sails is interesting, a pirate show and while I wasn't sure about it at first, it's growing on me as I watch. Pretty good!
DeleteI haven't heard of Black Sails either but am off to check it out!
ReplyDeleteI'm kinda liking Black Sails, it's different than the other stuff I'm watching.
DeleteOh, those Etsy signs look fun. They remind me of the city signs in the MASH compound. My Thanksgiving was warm and sunny; it's been a funny month for weather here.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you had a good Thanksgiving. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
I liked them too. Glad your Thanksgiving was nice. It rained all day here, sometimes quite hard. As if I needed more excuse to stay in LOL.
DeleteI just got Need and I am looking forward to reading it! I am also very excited for Captain America! I'm looking forward to seeing your picks for Cover Characteristics next week. I'm having some problems with finding covers for it this time!
ReplyDeletehttp://dualreads.blogspot.co.uk/2015/11/sunday-post-29th-november.html
I haven't been reading much this week, seems like I'm been reading (use that term loosely) Need for weeks but TV (Netflix) has been sucking up all my time! Maybe this week I can finish it.
DeleteI'm having the same problem with CC this week- hard topic! Gonna be interesting... :)
I've considered reading The Wanderers because I love circus books, but shifters aren't really my thing :-/ Need also sounds interesting though. I'll definitely check out your reviews if you review them! Also those signs are pretty awesome.
ReplyDeleteI saw a good review for Wanderers (I think from Heather at Redheaded Ramblings) but I've seen some bad reviews too, so don't know. I don't read a lot of shifter stories. I'm hoping this one is good. I like the idea of them being hunted, we'll see how it goes.
DeleteNeed I really like the premise, hope to review it in a week or so.
I think we should have four-day weekends more often :) It must have been nice to have some lazy days with good food and friends and family around, Greg!
ReplyDeleteI'm intrigued by the Hunger Games podcasts, I think I'll check them out :)
Have a wonderful week ahead and happy reading.
Lexxie @ (un)Conventional Bookviews
Me too! It was nice to eat and not much else.
DeleteThe podcast is fun, KAtherine recommended it and I was looking for something snarky and it's pretty good.
Those vintage posters are cool!
ReplyDeleteThe Wanderers looks interesting! I usually like books about carnivals, and one that combines that with supernatural elements sounds promising.
Hope your weekend has been wonderful!
I liked them too, I'm a sucker for those vintage- y things. :) I'm hoping that The Wanderers will be good, I've seen good and bad reviews.
DeleteYay, your joining cloak and dagger! :) That Capt. America trailer...hmm I love the Captain but not sure about that one as I am an Iron Man fan..don't like seeing them warring against each other. :( Happy reading!

Week in Review
I love a Charlie Brown Christmas! It reminds me of waking up on a lazy Sunday and hearing my kids (when they were little) singing along to the songs. Sweet kid voices!
ReplyDeleteI am still doing Netflix a lot...this week, it has been The West Wing again. I forgot to mention it in my Sunday post...LOL.
Thanks for visiting my blog, and I love the Thai Spicy Shrimp too!
I have been wanting to watch Black Sails, I watched a few episodes and I am not sure I liked them enough to buy them so I have been hoping they come to Netflix but so far it doesn't look like it.
ReplyDeleteLove soundtrack music, might have to see if they have it available on Spotify. I usually listen to Game of Thrones a lot on there and Harry Potter :) Helps me with my designing.
Have a great week, Greg! Happy Reading!
Yeah they're not on Netflix and that irritates me. I hate paying for them... I wasn't sure about it either but I'm kinda hookd now, I like the whole pirate thing. I did the same thing with Arrow and The 100... bought em then they came to Netflix. Smart greg :)
DeleteOur weather has been all over the place from chilly to warm, wet to dry and it's supposed to keep it up this coming week. I wish Mother Nature would pick one and just stick with it for awhile. Preferably a sunny one. The Wanderers intrigues me. I must go check it out. I love, love, love those signs! My husband could make those and my daughter could paint them. I'd need to decide which places I want them to say. :D
ReplyDeleteMy mom was a major sci-fi fan, especially Star Trek. She also loved Isaac Asimov. You have neat graphics/photos. Happy Reading.
ReplyDeleteA four day weekend - lovely. Hope you enjoyed it. I've never heard of Black Sails - will have to look it up.
ReplyDeleteIt's a pretty good pirate show, I wasn't sure after the first episode but it grew on me after that. Not bad...
DeleteThe Wanderers has been on my radar for awhile. I look forward to seeing what you think of it.
ReplyDeleteI wish I had known about sci-fi month before now! I will be sure to check it out now though.
SciFi Month is fun, there were a lot of good posts. And I have high hopes for The Wanderers...
DeleteI'm pretty much doing the same thing as you are this four day weekend. I wish we had more of them :) The Cloak and Dagger reading challenge looks good. I might sign up for that one.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!
My husband and I were able to watch the first episode of Black Sails free on Showtime and we really enjoyed it. We're trying to avoid buying any more though. We've already got a full plate with all the other shows we're streaming. Enjoy your week!
ReplyDeleteI watched it free too (the first one) and decided to give it a try- but I agree I don't like having to buy them. :( Sometimes Netflix doesn't have the shows I really want to see. :) Or they get them eventually... still I can't complain too much, I've watched a lot of shows on there. There are so many shows now!
DeleteYou have a great week too!
Hadn't heard of Black Sails. I might have to check that one out - I'm always looking for new shows to watch while I'm on the elliptical and high action shows work best!
ReplyDeleteNicole @ Feed Your Fiction Addiction
That's probably a good one to watch while exercising. It grew on me after the first episode, it's nice to look at and the characters are interesting. I wasn't really familiar with it either but I saw it on a few blogs...
DeleteThe 2nd season of Black Sails is even better than the 1st, really awesome! Enjoy your weekend, sounds like the best place to be is snuggled up with a book or in front of the TV. If I could send a few degrees of heat your way believe me I would lol
ReplyDeleteCool, I'm liking that show so far. I'm almost done with S1 and I'm looking forward to seeing more of Anne Bonny in action. :) Definitely has potential. In fact I may finish S1 tonight... :)
DeleteSounds like a pretty nice long weekend. I read more than expected and ended up stuck on the Food network... not sure how many episodes of Chopped I watched! The weather has been perfect here, a No Snow November with temps in the mid 60s on Friday! No complaints from me. Have a great week :)
ReplyDeleteBlack Sails is awesome, and gets better with each season! Anne Bonny and Jack are two of my favorite characters. Sounds like you've had a nice week. Like you, I'm also excited for the new Captain America. Is it May yet?
ReplyDeleteThat rain was crazy! But I'd rather have that than snow. This upcoming weekend is supposed to be very nice. Like the looks of The Wanders. Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteA four day holiday weekend is ideal! Just went off to look Black Sails up, sounds good, although my viewing is sporadic. I love those book signs on Etsy. You may be responsible for me lingering over there!
ReplyDeleteThose etsy signs are pretty cool. I bet they would make a great gift for my daughter, who loves bookish things. I hope you got all the reading and relaxing in you need this weekend.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a great week and I'm looking forward to your Star Wars post! My Weekly Wrap-Up
ReplyDeleteThe Wanderers looks interesting, I love that cover. I'm super excited to finally see a Civil War trailer, can't wait for the movie! Have a great week :)
ReplyDeleteThe weather here has been nutty too. It was gorgeous Thursday and Friday but as been yucky since. Can't wait to see what you think of Need. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteMy husband is off every Friday and I'm so envious of him. That's the way to work!
ReplyDeletehttp://readerbuzz.blogspot.com/2015/11/thankfully-reading-weekend.html
Ugh, I'm not sure how I feel about the new Captain America coming movie. I have heard of Black Sails, but I haven't gotten around to watching any of it yet. I've heard some mixed things.
ReplyDeleteThose signs would make a great bookish gift this holiday season! The Wanderers looks interesting - I hope you enjoy your upcoming reads!
ReplyDeleteReading With Jade
A relaxing weekend of reading and netflix is always good! I relaxed yesterday by playing some Fallout 4.
ReplyDeleteJust wondering, what is Super Serials?
Love the looks of The Wanderers.
ReplyDeleteThose signs are awesome.
Thanks for sharing, and have a great week.

I wish we could gte a sunny day or two soon, we've had dark and gloomy weather for a week or longer now. Rain, wind and dark skies. I hope you had a great thanksgiving. Those story book signs on etsy are pretty cool! There are so many awesome things you can find on etsy. Have a great week
ReplyDeleteThe Wanderers looks really interesting. I hope you're enjoying it!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to watch the videos but I can't now, I'll come back later, I'm interested by Black sails. I recently read a novel with the ghost of Anne Bonny ! And those book signs are awesome... Have a great, cozy, comfy week ;)
