Sunday Post #97
The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer
Lots of sunshine this week. I finished a few books. I read and reviewed Star Wars Heir to Jedi and read Deadfall as well. My thoughts on Deadfall will be up on Thursday. I also had my Bookcover Spotlight #2 on Friday- you can check it out here. It was a good week but went by fast. We're almost to July already- hard to believe.
BOOKISH NEWS:
Julie Mulhern is releasing the next book in the Country Club Murders this fall.
NEW ARRIVALS UPCOMING REVIEWS:
The Introverted Reader reviews The Little Paris Bookshop.
A Novel Start reviews Matched.
Between My Lines has a great discussion post- why do you read?
You have a nice eclectic mix...all the mysteries look so tempting. Enjoy! Thanks for sharing...and for visiting my blog.
ReplyDeleteOOO, Hearne + Star Wars! I forgot he wrote those, too!! I hope it was good. I'm kind of oggling the Mark Hamil on the cover - talk about svelte (sorry!). I'm trying to imagine Skip's voice coming from THAT guy. I can't wait for Star Wars 7 myself...
ReplyDeleteHe is looking rather trim isn't he? LOL. I'm looking forward to the new Star Wars too. :)
DeleteOoo so many cool titles and quite a few that I think I would enjoy. Looking forward to your thoughts on Deadfall this week
ReplyDeleteThanks Kimba, hope you have a good week!
DeleteAm looking forward to your review of Deadfall as I think it's a book I'd enjoy!
ReplyDeleteDeb
Love the title Butter off Dead! Enjoyed the Peanuts trailer, looks like it will be fun.
ReplyDeleteI do too! Love those punny titles- and this one in particular.
DeleteOooooh, Time salvager and your cozies looks very good ! So does the trailer of Unexpected, I remember how my first pregnancy felt unreal and scary and wonderful at the same time :) Have a great sunny week, Greg !
ReplyDeleteYou too, enjoy!
DeleteI hope you'll continue to have some sunshine next week, too, Greg!
ReplyDeleteYour new books look very good, Time Salvager and The Adventuress both seem like stories I'd enjoy, too.
It was fun to chat with you in the COYER twitter party yesterday :)
Have a wonderful week ahead and happy reading.
Lexxie @ (un)Conventional Bookviews
I had fun at the Twitter party, nice to chat with y'all. :)
DeleteThanks for including my post! I think The Adventuress looks great, that cover is fab. Lots of interesting looking cozy mysteries too. And I'm curious about Deadfall. Have a great week Greg.
ReplyDeleteI like the cover a lot- looking forward to that one. Have a great week Trish!
DeleteWe have had lots of Sun here in the UK this week for a change. Is deadfall a series? I love the time salvager cover. Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteMegan @ http://readingawaythedays.blogspot.co.uk
Yay for sun! Deadfall is the second of the Blackbird books- it's a duology.
DeleteThe Cobie Smulders' movie looks interesting. I like both the actresses in it. The last line in the trailer is hilarious.
ReplyDeleteI really wanna see the Peanuts film, love Snoopy and Charlie Brown!
ReplyDeleteHave a fantastic week!
Heather @ Random Redheaded Ramblings
I do too, love Peanuts! I didn't know they were making a movie, so that's a pleasant surprise.
DeleteI really want to try the country club mysteries. I think you showed another one time. I'm getting caught up on my Lady Emily books to be ready for The Adventuress. Thanks for visiting today.
ReplyDeleteI like the Lady Emily mysteries a lot- I have not read all, but about half. I'm skipping a few and just reading the newer ones, now.
DeleteYeah for getting a lot of reading done this week! I was busy with family so I was only able to listen to my audiobooks in the car.
ReplyDeleteThose are 2 great movies coming out. The Cobie Smulders' movie looks really good and it is great seeing Elizabeth McGovern. I loved her in the 80's and they actually look alike and can pass for mother and daughter.
I hope you have a great week and enjoy all your new books!
I was pleasantly surprised too
DeleteThe Peanuts movie looks so cute, they have always been my favorite. Charlie Brown Christmas will forever be my favorite :)
ReplyDeleteWe had some good sunshine this week but now it's raining.
I was so glad you came to the Twitter party yesterday! You have me so curious about the Star Wars books, I am off to check out your review :)
Have a great week, Greg! Happy Reading!
You should try it, if you're in Star Wars at all. The party was fun, COYER should be a blast!
DeleteI love PEanuts too, and am so happy to see them doing a movie. The Schulz family is involved so hopefully they'll do it right.
I got Time Salvager too. Looking forward to your review!
ReplyDeleteI LOOOOOVE Peanuts!!! like in crazy about it! thanks for sharing the trailer. Loved it :)
Same here! :) I'll be watching for your thoughts as well. It does look good. And Peanuts is awesome, I loved the books growing up and the movie looks good. Have an awesome week!
DeleteThe Time Salvager sounds good! Also your cozy mysteries always look like fun.
ReplyDeleteOh, a new Peanuts movie! I am old enough that I grew up since almost the beginning of the franchise. I had Peanut comic books and figures when a kid and still watch The Charlie Brown Christmas every holiday season for nostalgia. Plus that jazzy soundtrack--awesome.
Enjoy your week!
I love that soundtrack- and often listent o it, even when it's not Christmas time. A classic. There's something about Peanuts- and I had a ton of books growing up, it was very comforting.
DeleteI didn't realize there was a Peanuts movie coming out! That will definitely be on our watch list. I really want to try Leslie Budewitz. Her spice store series looks like so much fun. I hadn't heard of P.B. Kolleri but now I want to try that series just based off the cover. Must find out more about it. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteI didn't either- I was excited when I saw the trailer. And it comes out this year- yay! I thought the spice store mysteries looked fun too, and thought about- then I saw this one, and thought I'll start there. I hope it's good
DeleteUnexpected looks good:) Have a great week Greg:)
ReplyDeleteYay Star Wars! And I also can't believe July is just around the corner. Yikes! Time Salvager looks good! I'll have to add that to the TBR Mountain.
ReplyDeleteI know it- time is flying. Hard to belive July already. Have a great 4th!
DeleteI have a few of those mysteries waiting for me to read, too. Enjoy and have a great week!
ReplyDeleteYou too Yvonne, enjoy your reads.
DeleteI really want to give a few of the Star Wars books a try as I am a big Star Wars fan. I enjoyed reading your review of this one and it makes me want to read it soon. The cover for Garanteed to Bleed looks pretty! I love the green and brown colours used on the cover.
ReplyDeleteI hope you'll have a great week and enjoy your new books!
I haven't read very many SW books (none really) and I liked this one- a lot. It was nice to get a Luke. I agree about Gauranteed- i like that cover!
DeleteAll these cozies sound so good! I like to read them in the fall; I will need to remember them!
ReplyDeleteI'm really into cozies lately- not all, but a few that appeal to me. The ellery Adams ones have caught my attention, I'm really liking those.
DeleteI adored Anna Carey's Eve trilogy, but I haven't had the chance to read Blackbird or Deadfall yet. Did you review Blackbird here on the blog? Have a fab week. :)
ReplyDeleteI had never read Anna Carey before, but liked Blackbird- and Deadfall too. My thoughts on Blackbird http://gregsbookhaven.blogspot.com/2014/10/review-blackbird.html
DeleteThat's the second post I've seen today mention The Country Club Murders... need to read the first one! We've had a chilly, wet weekend here. Sure hope it's better for the holiday ahead.
ReplyDeleteMe too The CC Murders are good, at least the first one which I read I have high hopes for the next one.
DeleteAll those mysteries look really good, I hope you enjoy them. Love the Peanuts trailer and with the second one all I could think is who is Cobie Smulder..lol.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your reads!
Stormi
Thanks for the link-up!
ReplyDeleteI've heard good things about Tasha Alexander's books but I don't think I've actually read anything by her before. I just heard about the Peanuts movie. It should be fun! Enjoy your week!
I need to make time for the other two SW books I have in the new set before Dark Disciple comes out in a few weeks. I'm pretty excited about it because it will center around Asajj Ventress who is in the Clone Wars animated show which I loved.
ReplyDeleteI hope you have an awesome week Greg!
Hi Greg,
ReplyDeleteLooks like a fun week! Thank you for linking my blog :D I really loved Matched! I hope you enjoy next weeks reads too :D
Have a great day,
Amy x
Why is it that only cozy mysteries have such slyly clever titles?
ReplyDeleteHave a great reading week!
One of these days I will read a Star Wars book (other than the original novelization of what's now A New Hope, by George Lucas, which I read back in the day.) And I so want to read the new Tasha Alexander! I still haven't caught up on the series, though. Sometimes I think I should take a year off from new books and just read older titles from my TBR list...
ReplyDeleteThe Time Scavenger book looks really intriguing, too.
Unexpected looks really good. Colbie is a great actress!
