Sunday Post #69

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It's Monday! What Are You Reading is hosted by Sheila at Book Journey

The first full week of November is behind us and you can sure tell by the weather- at least around here. It has gotten colder and windy as well- this morning it is raining.

NaNoWriMo is going well, although after a fast start I've slowed down a bit. I did take time out to revisit a story I wrote last year for the HoHoHo Readathon, and I'll be posting that on Tuesday with minor changes. It's a short little Christmas tale- let me know what you think!

SciFi Month is in full swing, and so is the HoHoHo Readathon. I'm having a lot of fun with both- I put up a review on Friday for Vitro, which is a fast paced YA thriller that I read earlier in the year, but I wanted to share it again for SciFi Month. Also I reviewed Murder at the Brightwell, a very good mystery This week I've got some Christmas themed reads for the readathon, and I'm trying to decide what to read next.

  1. Wow, I don't surf but those huge waves must be tempting for a surfer--wild weather!
I like the looks of all three of your incoming books in different ways, good assortment. I'm more fantasy than sci-fi in my choices, but I'm glad you're enjoying Sci-Fi Month and Vitro does sound intriguing! Enjoy the rest of the weekend, Greg.

    1. I'm more fantasy too, and realized I don't have a ton of sci fi reviews. I am enjoying the event and reading all the posts. My books this week are all a bit different and I have no idea what I'll read next! Thank you for stopping Rita, hope you have a great weekend too.

  3. Those waves are amazing to watch, but it drives me nuts that people are still going out on the piers (not surfers). Trust Me I'm Lying made its way to my shelves. Have a great weekend.

    1. I thought so too, quite a show they put on this week. I can't believe people are going on those piers either- not too smart. I hope Trust Me is good, not sure when I'll get to it but hopefully soon!

  4. Wow, those waves are amazing. Some great looking books there, I really like the look of Trust Me I'm Lying. Bit of a mix with HoHoHo books and SciFi books, but mixing it up keeps it all interesting. Enjoy :)

  5. Trust Me, I'm Lying sounds really interesting and your Christmas/winter reads looks really cute. I also enjoyed reading your review for Murder at the Brightwell, I've always liked books set in the 20s and 30s so will have to check it out.

  6. Great Christmas books! I've enjoyed the Rhys Bowen series so far though I'm several behind. I just realized that the Anne Perry is actually about the Pitt's child! I'll definitely be looking for that one as well. Trust Me I'm Lying looks intriguing. You're reading and have gotten some great books this week. Can't wait to see what you think of them all!

    1. Thanks Catherine. NaNo is slowing a bit for me, I had a torrent of words to start and now it's going a little slower. A fun experience though. I'm liking the Christmas covers too.

  9. Love the cover of Heirs and Graces - it has that posterized/cut-out look but good depth as well. I am also on the Sunday Post: http://fangswandsandfairydust.com/2014/11/cinderella-sunday.html

    1. I'm liking it too, but after finishing my first book I've slowed waay down. Just not enough time to read (I say as I blog!). :) Anyway good luck and enjoy the rest of the readathon. I hope you like the story, I posted it last year but thought I would dust it off.

    2. BTW I thought of you last night, The Nine lives of Christmas was on the Hallmark Channel and I remembered you read it and said it would be a movie. OMG it was soooo cute watched it again this afternoon :) Not sure if you got to see it yet but it's worth a watch.

    3. Awesome! I liked the book, and wondered how they would do with the show. I wasn't sure how I felt about the casting (I saw a little behind the scenes thing on it) cause I had the characters in my head, so I'm glad to hear it works. I have not seen it yet but now I want to!

  11. The Christmas books have such lovely covers...now I want to read something that evokes the season.

I am also curious about Trust Me, I'm Lying. That could be fun....or scary. LOL

Thanks for visiting my blog, and enjoy your week.

  12. I have high hopes for Agent Carter. I think Constantine is going to be canceled. I watched the first episode but am going to wait to watch anymore. Want to see if it will be canceled or not first. It's interesting to me to see how many people are writers... I usually don't know it until NaNoWriMo.

    1. I do too. I wsn't sure if I would be into that series, but after seeing that promo I'm onboard! Looks good. I'm surprised too at the writers participating, but I guess it makes sense that a lot of bloggers would be writers too. I had noidea about NaNo until I started doing this...

  13. I want to read Trust Me, I'm Lying based off of that title alone! I loved the first couple of books in the Rhys Bowen series but haven't continue on with it lately. I really should as they are fun reads! I hope you have a great week! Happy Sunday!

  14. The weather here is so weird, one day it's really cold and then we have some very mild days again.

I am hoping to get a few more sci-fi boosk read this month for sci-fi november. And it's so much fun seeing everyone's posts!

The cover for Winterfrost looks great. I hope you'll enjoy your new books.

  15. Those waves are crazy! The weather got warm again here and I'm getting sick of it. I read for the Ho-Ho-Ho Read-a-thon so at least that got me feeling more of the holiday season instead of our weather! Agent Carter looks really good! I hope you were able to read or write this weekend. Have a great week!

    1. They were, the weather last week was not very good. :) I agree the readathon, with all those holiday reads, is a good way to get in the holiday mood. I think Agent Carter will be good too!

  16. It's been cold here all week, but it looks like we're going to get warmer weather for the next couple of days and then I think it gets bad again. Cold to warm is how we all end up with colds. Oh well...it is, what it is as they say :)

I have What Happens At Christmas to read and it looks really good.

Hope you have a great week!

  18. I hate this time of the year because of the weather! It's getting cold here and I do not like it. :( I am trying my hand at NaNo but it's not going well, I haven't found much time to really get any writing in so far. :(

Enjoy your reads and thanks for stopping by my blog. :)

    1. NaNo was going well for me at first, but as I progress I find that maybe my story idea isn't as devloped as much as I thought, so it's slowing me down. We;ll see how it goes. :) Good luck with it and I hope you have fun with it.

I'm not fond of the weather either now, it's just going to be cold from here on

  20. Oh, Trust Me I'm Lying looks good on so many levels… both the name or the cover alone are enough to tempt me. I'm NaNoing as well but feeling very luke warm about what I'm writing!
