Well we're into September now and autumn is in the air. Bonfires, turning leaves, the crisp autumn air, the moon peeking through the clouds on a cool fall night... it's allpart of the fall season. This is my favorite time of year and I'm starting to plan out what fall- ish events I want to partake in. Frightfall is a definite, and there may be a few others as well. I'm looking forward to autumn this year and all it has to offer.
This week I'm reading Divergent but reading time dried up later in the week- maybe I'll finish this weekend. Then I think it's on to Insurgent - I'm curious what happens next (having seen the movie) so I may read this series all the way through.
COYER wrapped up this week. I'm still exploring all the great book reviews posted over there. 700 + reviews!

Fall must come sooner in your part of the world! Here in Virginia, it's still in the 90s, though the leaves are beginning to look limp and less vibrantly green. I'm looking forward to crisp fall days and beautiful fall colors, too, but we won't see them until mid-October sometime.

I read Divergent but didn't get around to Insurgent. I should think about picking it up. I haven't seen the movie yet either. I don't know whether I would stick with an autumn readathon, but I sure want to check out other bloggers' choices.

Ah, the lattes. So good! I like everything about fall so I'm happy we're moving into this season, although I do miss the longer days- the sun is setting now by 8:30 or earlier and I'm not liking that too much!
DeleteI wasn't sure how I would take to Divergent, to be honest, but I'm enjoying it so far. I just picked up Insurgent. I did like the movie too, and didn't know what to expect going in, but I thought it was good.
That was an interesting post on French school lunches but not surprising. Italian schools are similar and many preschools and day cares here in the US are based on the Reggio Emilio model which is similar to the French approach. I also heartily approve of the plentiful recess periods; children need the exercise and it improves their focus and ability to learn.

I love the word fall, it's so accurate. autumn is well and truly here as well and there is a little frosty, nip in the sir in the mornings and I love it.

Oh, another one! Autumn is my favourite season too. I love it when the season turns. And another odd love I have is fungi which mostly come out in autumn.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter finally watched Divergent the other day on DVD and told me how much she loved it. I never actually read it and never read the book! Time to get the book me thinks!

It's probably my favorite season, although I'm fond of spring as well. There's just something about this time of year. I thought the Divergebt movie was quite good, not perfect, but after being disappointed in so many movies lately it was nice to see one I liked. Now I'm reading the book and everything is proceeding pretty much like the movie, but I know book 2 will take me into new territory. :)

Nice current and recently read books, Greg. All of the hot, humid weather we didn't get over the summer arrived last week...but I'm happy to report that today it's cooler and feeling more like fall is on the way. I'm looking forward to the spectacular colors of the changing fall foliage here in the northeast--until, of course, the leaves all fall and need to be raked. But there's nothing like fresh apple cider . . .

The last couple mornings have certainly felt fall like here in Iowa. It was almost too chilly (for me) for an iced coffee this morning.

You're probably still quite warm down there, i would imagine? I know where Divergent is going, having seen the movie, but really curious as to where the story goes in books two and three, so I'm anxious to get there.
DeleteI can't wait for Fall too. Our weather would still be really hot but I can't wait for our annual trip to Apple Hill and pumpkin patches. That French article was really interesting. They do have a healthier lifestyle than us but some of that food I wouldn't eat either. Have a great week!

I know what you mean about the cold weather, I'm not so keen on that. Bonfires and all the fall stuff though... too bad we can't just go from autumn to summer again! I've read a little Christie but not much, so this seems like a good place to start reading her stuff again.
DeleteI love autumn! I've been seeing lots of autumn themed recipes with pumpkin on pinterest and already pinned a few of them so i can try them out. I have pumkkin risotto on the menu this week. And I saw some delicious looking pumpkin donuts, but I don't know where I can find a donut shaped baking plate.
ReplyDeleteI had a lot of fun participating in Coyer, so I am a bit sad it's over. I didn't read as many books as I hoped I would, but all in all I think I did okay.
I think you did good with COYER, I was looking through the wrap up posts. I wish I would have read more but I did have fun with it.

DeleteI loved so much And Then There Were None, and one of those days, I want to reread all of Verne, read a lot of them in French in my younger years. great stuff. Enjoy!

I thought Divergent the movie was kinda good, but I had not read the book yet so I was going in blind. Now that I'm reading the book I can see where the ymade changes... ReplyDeleteThat;s what I did, I was curious about the movie and thought it looked good- had no real concrete plans to read the book at that time. Was curious about the story after seeing it, so a little backwards from what i normally do. But it's working for me. :)

DeleteIt is amazing how quickly the fall weather arrives. A big storm is on its way Wednesday. I grabbed a couple of Honeycrisp apples to eat while reading on the deck!

DeleteI just watched the Divergent movie myself and made the decision to finally get the book. It seems sort of like going backwards though, doesn't it?

It is backwards, I did the same thing! You know, as far as comparing, I've heard a lot of people say the book is far better, and I'm usually one of thos epeople too- but in my case, having seen the movie first, I think it compares quite well. Mainly because that actress and actor are Tris and Four to me now, in a lot of ways. So at least for me, i think it compares quite favorably.
DeleteIt won't feel like Fall for another month or two here, but I'm already making our Halloween plans. :) I can still decorate with leaves and pumpkins even if it's hot outside!
