Sunday Post #11/ It's Monday! What Are You Reading?
The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It's a chance to share news. A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead
It's Monday! What Are You Reading is hosted by Sheila at Book Journey. It's a chance to share reading lists and compare notes. Be warned though- this meme tends to add to your reading lists.
The days of fall are here, the nights have been cooler and the leaves will be falling soon. I love this time of year. I'm looking forward to some autumn-y reads and am thinking about joining a read-a-thon or two for the season. Last week I reviewed And Only To Deceive by Tasha Alexander. This was my first book of hers and I liked it. This week I'm reading Fangirl and almost done. My review should be up in a couple of days.
Next up:
Around the blogosphere:
From Tor.com (lots going on there this week BTW)
Rainbow Rowell of Fangirl fame (and Eleanor & Park) on Life Before Fandom, and how life as a geek was different before the Internet. Ah, X- Men reference... it's worth a rea
I enjoyed Slated and hope you do too. Fall is my favorite time of year as well. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteThanks Kimba. Hope you have a great week.
DeleteOur yard is covered in leaves already. :) I love it! Enjoy the new reads. I will be starting Fangirl soon.
ReplyDeleteJenea @ Books Live Forever's Sunday Post
Yeah I love fall! I miss the smell of burning leaves... I hope you like Fangirl, it's pretty good.
DeleteI am sooo not looking forward to the cooler weather. I like it hot! :D I've been meaning to read Slated for awhile now but never get around to it. Hope you enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteThanks Christy, I'm looking forward to Slated. I know when it gets cold I'm going to wish for summer again. :)
DeleteThank you for the wonderful shout-out, Greg! And I see you have Magic Marks the Spot, too! I've dipped into it; it's delightful. Thanks for the Morning Roundup link - some of their links were terrific.
ReplyDeleteYou are welcome! Thanks for stopping by- yes the Pirate one looks great!
DeleteI really enjoyed both Fangirl and Razor's Edge. I have also been wanting to read And Only to Deceive. I have heard the series compared to Deanna Raybourn's Lady Julia Grey mysteries which I love.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see Catching Fire this November. I've only read Mockingjay once but I think Julianne Moore will be a good Coin.
I'm liking Fangirl a lot, and I think your blog was where I saw Razor's Edge- didn't know about it before that, so thank you! I really liked And Only To Deceive and will definetly be reading the rest of the series.
DeleteI haven't read Mockingjay but I generally like Moore.
I have read good things about FanGirl so I am keen to read your review! Have a great week Greg!
ReplyDeleteThanx for visiting My Weekly Wrap-Up!
Naomi @ Nomi’s Paranormal Palace
Thanks Naomi you too!!
DeleteI wish I enjoyed Fangirl more, my review was a 3 star but I had a lot of issues getting to that point. I love the premise though.I'm sort of looking toward to Fall...but I don't want it to get below 60 ever, lol. I'm a summer girl. Razor's Edge looks awesome and I'm totally for a Loki movie (as long as it's well written and not just an excuse for money).
ReplyDeleteI read your review and I can see where you're coming from. I'm liking it a little more I think but I see your point about some of the characters. And yes below 60 is not good- I want fall and then maybe summer again! LOL
DeleteYou read Fangirl!! :) Cannot wait to see what you think!
ReplyDeleteYeah I am a huge Starwars fan but I don't think I could ever bring myself to read the books.
I cannot wait till Emerald Green comes out!!!!! Have you read the series??? It's really great!
Great haul and Happy Reading!
-Rashika @ Tangled in Pages
Thanks Rashika. I felt a little weird buying a book called FanGIRL but I liked the premise. Who can't relate to someone struggling to grow up and keep their fannish ness? Is that a word? :) Anyway yeah I don't normally read the SW books either. And I have not read the series but the cover looked good.
DeleteI hope you enjoyed Fangirl :D I haven't gotten around to that one YET ;)
ReplyDeleteI think you'll like it when you do. I laugh a lot, Rowell just says a lot of things in it I can relate too, even though I'm a guy. :)
DeleteSome Great books on your list! Here are mine> http://reviewbooksandmore.com/2013/09/16/its-monday-what-are-you-reading/

Thank you for stopping Andrea. Have a great week!
DeleteI heard good things about Fangirl and all of Rainbow Rowell's books. I guess you are a Fanboy of Fangirl then? :)
ReplyDeleteYeah I guess I am! I liked Fangirl. Now someone needs to write the guy version. :)
DeleteI've had Slated for a while and it is one I really need to read! Fangirl too! I still need to pick that one up though! Have you read Eleanor and Park? If not I highly recommend! It was probably the best book I've read so far this year!
ReplyDeleteI have not, but I'm definetly open to more of her books. Fangirl impressed me enough that I would give her a try again...
DeleteLove the cover of Emerald Green.
ReplyDeleteENJOY your week.

My It's Monday, What Are You Reading
You too Elizabeth, thank you!!!
DeleteI'm going to have to look into The Very Nearly Honorable Pirates for my little guy. It looks like a blast!
ReplyDeleteYes it looks very good! I'm chomping at the bit to get to it, just love the premise.
ReplyDeleteI'll be interested to hear what you think of Slated...that book has been kind of on my radar for a while now. Thanks for stopping by earlier!
ReplyDeleteWendy @ Escape Into Fiction
Thanks Wendy! I'm about 5 chapters in and so far liking it... it's intriguing.
