This week I went to a Chinese restaurant- a buffet- and have a funny story. I know, a buffet. The food was GOOD, though. But when they served the tea there was a little tea bag in there and the label said... Great Value. Yes, the Chinese restaurant served me Walmart brand tea. Sigh. I almost left. But, again, the food was delicious. Anyway, I found out Dorothy is coming to town. When was the last time I went to a live concert?

Last week I mentioned Lord of the Rings Online and had several questions about it so I thought I'd share.

  1. Oh, it looks fun! Well..I'm glad you got your value at the buffet. I haven't been to our China Buffet in ages. I can remember a time when I could get there early and just stay around for hours enjoying the company of friends and of course, some crunchy egg rolls and lots of other delicious things. Hope you had a warm weekend! Thanks for the videos.

  2. Ohmygosh that is too funny about the Walmart tea at the Chinese buffet. I always wonder if our one and only Chinese restaurant actually cooks their food or just heats up from frozen. Doesn't matter. It's tasty. lol

  3. Oh great *lol* Walmart tea! Sorry for that. But at least you could enjoy the meal. Happy reading and have a great new week.

  5. Oh thank you for sharing info about LOTR online. :) I have been meaning to play it but it can't seem to get it to work on my computer.

  6. Oh my goodness, Wal-mart tea bags at a Chinese restaurant, how funny is that?! Have a great week!

  7. Wow. Seems almost criminal to get Walmart tea at a Chinese restaurant. At least the food was great.

  8. Oh that is hilarious about the tea. I am glad the food was delicious! I can't remember the last time I went to a concert either. I hope you get to go to this one! Have a great week!

  9. Uy pero por lo menos fue buena la comida. Y me gusto el video del señor de los anillos. Te mando un beso.

  10. Chinese sounds so good right now! Even with Wallmart tea, lol. 😁

  11. Much like everyone else, that "great value" tea bag made me laugh. I guess even chinese restaurants need to cut corners now and then!

  12. Ha! That's hilarious about the tea. They should've at least steeped it first and then took the tea bag so you wouldn't know, lol.

I'm not a huge fan of Chinese food. I never have been. Well, that's not true. I haven't been since I married my husband. He's deathly allergic to shellfish and I mean deathly allergic. If I eat shellfish and I'm around him, he'll have a reaction that could send him to the ER. The reason this is important is that the only Chinese food I enjoy are dishes with shellfish in it and I can't eat them anymore unless I travel or my husband goes out of town. And, when that happens, I'd much rather eat Japanese food. Japanese food is where it's at!

  13. That is funny about the tea. The question is, was it any good? At least the food was good.

  14. That is so funny about the Walmart tea! My mother was English and she was very picky about her tea, she would have stayed, but grumbled about it.

  15. Okay, I laughed at the tea. I'm going to bring that up to my husband the next time he goes on about "authentic" tea at Chinese restaurants! - Melinda @ A Web of Stories

  17. Oh my goodness, I am getting such a chuckle from the Walmart tea at a Chinese restaurant. No exactly what you expect! LOL

  18. I love a good Asian cuisine buffet! I've been to 2 in my life that were worth it, but are in other states. But one of the great things about a Chinese restaurant is having the hot sweet tea. Once I went and they served Jasmine White tea, but Great Value, ugh. You should've had the price pro-rated since the tea was not authentic, lol.

  19. Lol! I miss live music! I am hoping to catch a show or two this summer.

  20. Great story about the tea! We've ordered carry-out Chinese lately but haven't dined in. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

  22. Wow, a Walmart tea bag, LOL. But a Chinese buffet sounds good. I haven't been to one of those for years!

Enjoy your week and your books and videos.

  23. Hahaha, that sucks about the Walmart tea. I'm glad the food was good! I've never had tea at my Chinese place, but they do serve Diet Coke in a can. They don't put it in a cup with ice to pretend it's fancy like other restaurants do.

  24. Did you ask them why they serve that particular tea brand? But you probably didn't go there for the tea, right? I think if the food is good, then the drinks didn't matter as much.

    Have a lovely day.

  25. Yay for a Chinese buffet but sucks you then got walmart tea. I mean, should the tea really make or break the food? I don't think so but that's me.

  29. As long as the food was good then it was worth it to stay. I love a good Chinese buffet.

  30. Buffets can be hit or miss. We have one here that's really good. As long as you enjoyed the food, that's what counts. Have a good week!

  31. Yeah the tea, I mean Chinese! restaurant and they serve wallmart?

  32. Are you going to try and go to see Dorothy in concert? 'Cause that would be fun!

  33. I probably would have commented about the tea bags as that would have been a disappointment. I do love a good cup of tea and generally love the kinds served in Chinese restaurants LOL

  34. The only chinese restaurant in our town to offer a buffet closed down during the pandemic sadly. I don’t drink tea so I have no idea what kind they served.

Wishing you a great reading week

  35. Oh man, I haven't been to a Chinese buffet in so long! Yum!

  36. I love Asian food and buffet and tea. They make the best oolong and jasmine teas. But my daughter and I aren't going out to eat and I'm iffy about having buffet ever again. Sigh. The whole pandemic has made me germ conscious and I was always a hand washer. I'm making Chicken Fried rice at home and I've perfected a Chicken (or Shrimp) pad thai recipe I can make at home. A lot of the fried yummies like cheese wantons we wouldn't get anymore as my daughter is gluten-free so I make the things we can have at home.

  37. That's too funny about the tea at the restaurant. I am glad the food was delicious, at least. Do you think you'll try to go see Dorothy perform? My daughter went to an outdoor performance a couple weeks ago with a friend and her family--not a concert, really, more of a background street performance at Downtown Disney by a local band the girls like. She enjoyed it and came home with a new set of Disney ears. I hope you have a great week, Greg.

  38. After so many years, LOTRO still remains one of the most beautiful MMOs I've ever played. The art style is so timeless! I remember starting as a hobbit and my first login into the Shire...it was everything I hoped it would be.

  39. Oh Chinese food does sound so good, glad you enjoyed but also lol at the Walmart tea!

    ReplyDelete
  40. oh no! lol If you like the food I guess it doesn't matter where it comes from.

I haven't been to a *real* concert since I lived in FL We go to the summer concerts in the park though and those are mostly cover bands. Fun though.

  41. You can find Japanese restaurants here but not Chinese one. But we consume their packages of noodles alot.

  42. I mean... maybe they only break out the good tea on special occasions? Or maybe Wal-Mart tea is better than it sounds? (We don't have Wal-Mart here.) Who knows?

  43. We used to have a fabulous Chinese buffet here. In fact they had banquet rooms and ppeople would have their wedding receptions tbere it was so good. Ha ha.🍚🍤🍜🍘
