This week is books I think will be classics. Wowzers- no clue. Sooo... gonna go with ones I just... think about a lot? I guess if they stick with me then they're sort of classics to me, right?

  1. I think books you think about a lot should be considered a classic kind of read. :)

  2. What makes a classic? I skipped this topic because I really couldn't answer that question. I only read Divergent and I felt robbed by that last book.

  3. Interesting topic! The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet has my interest.

  4. El único que he leído es divergente. Tomo nota de los otros. Te mando un beso.

  5. What might be a classic to you, might not be to someone else. A Prayer for the Dying by Stewart O'Nan was a classic to me because it was so interesting how the syntax was used and the richness of how those would have spoken just after the Civil War. Of course, I like to think of books that gave me an epiphany like Bohemian Girl by Terese Svoboda. Such a slice of a forgotten Americana yet it really is a small world even while on the run on the prairie.

  6. I want to read 13 Treasures. Nice list, Greg.

  7. This is an interesting topic for this week’s TTT! It’s got me thinking about some of the books I’ve just finished — I don’t think anything will quite qualify 😂 (and sadly, I haven’t read any on this list!)

  8. The Long Way has a great shot at a future classics list.

  9. This week was definitely a toughie 😂 I managed to bs my way through, haha! I still have to read Becky Chambers' books but with how popular her books are, I can definitely see her books becoming a classic one day. Great list!

  10. I like your take on this, it's such a personal list!

  11. I've only read Divergent, but I'm intrigued by the others. I love when a story sticks with you and pops into the mind.

  12. I like your definition of a classic.

Some books are easy to forget. The ones that stick around are something special in my opinion.

  13. I think you're right. They're obviously going to be classics if they stick with us. Divergent would be one for sure.

  14. Divergent is already a classic in my opinion, lol! Honestly, any of the books that really defined YA literature will become classics in my opinion. I can see books like The Hunger Games achieving the same recognition of classic sci-fic books like 1984 and War of the Worlds.

  15. I like your definition of what makes a classic, much more personal!

  16. I took a similar approach to the topic this week :) But I can really see The Long Way To A Small, Angry Planet becoming an actual classic!

  17. I don't think I know any of them. :(

  18. I haven't read any of these!

  19. Ha ha ha! Right? No clue. I understand completely. Divergent made my list too. I've heard of most of the books on your list and they're on my TBR, but I've only read Divergent. Good list.

  20. Divergent made my list today too. I had no idea how to pick, just took a more scientific approach to it, LOL.

  21. Great list! This was hard for me because.. I kinda don't love a lot of the classics we have now. I am sure that whatever I choose will not be a classic for that reason, haha. I still need to read Becky Chambers. I really hope to this year!

  22. I like the idea of something being a classic "for me." Makes perfect sense since we all define classics in different ways.

    Happy TTT!

  23. I tried to read Divergent. Interesting list, as always, because you pick things so different from my usual reading choices. I love seeing what's out there.

  24. I added 13 Treasures to my Middle Grade TBR! 📚

  25. Wow, interesting choices. Yes, classic, to each of us, is subjective and based on what we and many others enjoy. I did read Divergent and remember enjoying it.

  26. This was a hard topic. I have no idea which modern books will appeal to people in the future! For my list, I just picked books that seem popular outside the bookish community and will probably get passed down from parents to children.

  27. I haven't read a single one of your books but I think they sound highly interesting, so I'm sure some of them will be classics one day.

Thanks for visiting my TTT this week. As usual, I couldn't restrict myself but it still is a TTT (Top Twenty Tuesday).

  28. I definitely think Divergent is gonna be a classic!

  29. Divergent is the only one I recognize.

  30. Divergent seems like it could end up being a classic - or at least a classic to illustrate that genre, since it's a prime example.

  31. I can totally see Divergent becoming a YA classic. I only read the first book, but remember its popularity very clearly.

  32. That Becky Chambers series should definitely be considered a classic at some point. It's one of my favorite "found family" stories.

  33. I would have had a hard time with this prompt too. But hey, personal classics makes total sense!

  34. I like your definition of classic! I had a hard time with this topic so I ended up skipping it but I enjoyed seeing your choices!

  35. Honestly if you didn't have Shark Club and Angry Planet on this list, I'd worry I was at the wrong blog 😂 Divergent surprised me though! Do you think about it a lot because of how bad Allegiant was? I have tried to banish the whole thing from my mind- which is really sad because I LOVED the first two books. Extinction Trials is a fun choice too! And goodness, I feel like I say this every week, but I NEED more Leo in my life!

  36. Divergent would have made my list (had I had the willpower to edit a TTT post lately) but the last book in the series left me with such a bad taste in my mouth I like to think that it never existed 😅

    ReplyDelete
  37. I haven't read any of these books but I did kept saying I'll read one of Becky Chambers' book some day. I just the titles of her books very intriguing somehow never got around to reading them, still wondering why.

Saying whether a book is classic is really more of a opinion these days. Though I do think classic books should be at least 50 years old that way, a lot of people had read it and given their opinion about it.

    Have a lovely day.

  38. I could see Divergent being a classic in the future.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I could see Divergent being a classic, too. Maybe The Hunger Games? I'd have a hard time with this TTT.

  40. I like that you gave it your own twist with books that are classic *to you*! Whatever that is on the last cover looks interesting.
