So Covid update! I feel pretty good? Today is day 14 since my symptoms appeared- I tested positive on the 30th- and I appear to be doing well so far. My experience so far has been mild and I want to thank everyone- here and on Twitter- for all the well wishes. I'm convinced that they make a difference. My biggest symptom over the last few days has been fatigue- I am sleeping ALL the time, seems like. I'm so grateful that I did not end up hospitalized, especially considering I'm a high risk situation- and while people can have a downturn after even two weeks, I'm optimistic that maybe the riskiest period is over?

The other big news is the kidnapping plot against Michigan's governor. I don't even have words.

Song of the week

  1. I'm glad to hear you caught a mild version of the darned virus! Two weeks should be the time span after which you can consider yourself out of the woods, right? Wishing you a smooth recovery!

Aw, I would like to see pics of those kittens 😉.

  2. I'm glad you're doing ok Greg and I really hope the symptoms fade soon. Fingers crossed you did get a mild version and I'd think you should be past the worst of the danger by now I hope. Feel free to send a few hours of your extra sleep my way!

  3. I am so sorry to hear you got Covid, but I am glad to hear you're doing relatively well and have had mild symptoms so far. I hope you continue to do well and all the symptoms are gone soon. That fatigue sounds annoying.

That's so cute you have kittens next door! I am sure they'll be happy with some food.

  5. So you'll be leaving some food out for your new cats, eh? I wouldn't be able to resist feeding them either, but we all know, they will never leave. It's good to hear you are doing well. I feel like the medical community has learned so much during this ordeal and are now better equipped to treat patients. Hope you continue to feel better and can get enough rest.

  6. It does seems like everything's a distance thing before I hear someone say they have caught the virus. I have read a few blog posts about other people getting it and it's very sad and I never know what to say but I hope you'll recover quickly.

    Have a lovely day.

  11. I'm so happy to hear you're feeling mostly OK even if you're dealing with fatigue, Greg! I think of you very often, and keep sending my healing vibe your way :)
Yeah, that Michigan thing is crazy! I'm so happy the attempt was thwarted - and your governor is a very strong woman, I watched her press conference afterwards, and I was clapping.
Have a good week ahead, keep sleeping when you need to. *elbow hugs*

  12. I'm so glad your symptoms are mild - and that you have avoided the more serious variety! All I would say is that while you might find you are on the road to recovery - my son found that after the initial illness passed, he was still left with significant breathlessness that took several months to pass - so do go on looking after yourself and making sure you keep fitness, good eating and sleeping patterns in place... Take care - and thinking of you!

  13. I am thankful that your case was mild and you are recovering. I hope your next test would turn negative. Take all the sleep breaks you want, please. Just read about the Michigan thing and I am shocked.

  14. I am glad that you only experience mild symptoms and hope that it won´t change. But please be cautious and take good care of yourself. Things with Covid can change from one minute to the next.

  23. First I am so glad that you are feeling well! And yes being extremely tired is one of the most common symptoms of COVID.
Second, even I, in Belgium, have heard of that kidnapping attempt. That's just crazy!
OK I wish you to get better and better Greg and a good week!

  25. It's wild how each week the news gets worse than the week before. And then we debate it?? Like - there was a terrorist plot but some people think it wasn't.

But good news!!! that you're doing well. Did you ever lose your sense of taste or smell?

Yes, that news about the plot to kidnap the Governor of Michigan is chilling! So happy it was thwarted. What a bunch of nut jobs!

  31. I am so glad that your symptoms are manageable. Fatigue is difficult, but better than having to be hospitalized with breathing issues. Hang in there!

And yes, I was stunned by that kidnapping plot!

Enjoy resting up...and reading your books.

Enjoy your books this week and take care.

  38. I'm thrilled that you're feeling a little better and hope that the feeling tired part will end soon. Crime is always bad, but the thought of Americans kidnapping an American governor is totally unbelievable! I'm still scratching my head and thankful that she's okay. Sending lots of socially distanced hugs your way, and wishes that you feel back to 100% soon. RO

  42. OMG Greg, sorry about the virus but, so happy to read that you seem to be doing well. Positive vibes go out to you.

I'm convinced my son had it back in February (before testing was available). He had a 104 fever for 3 days and severe chest pressure and cough. He flew from FL after a weeks vacation.

  43. I'm glad to hear that you are on the mend. I did hear about the kidnap plot and was appalled. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

  44. I'm so glad you're doing okay! Fatigue definitely seems to be a big symptom, but I'm glad it didn't get much worse than that. *knock on wood* that you're clear and feeling better soon!!

  45. I'm glad you're still doing well so far! My aunt had covid. She thinks it was in February but at that point they were only testing if you had been to China or had been around someone who had. Never mind that she had just flown back from a 2-week Caribbean vacation. *sigh* She only found out months later when she had covid antibodies in her blood. She's high risk too. She was a very sick lady for a while there but luckily never had to be hospitalized. The biggest complaint I heard from her was about the crushing fatigue.

The kidnapping plot was insane. I barely even recognize our country any more.

Enjoy your week and I hope you feel better!

  46. I'm really glad to hear that your symptoms has been mild and that it sounds like you should be through the worst of it. I have been reading about the kidnapping plot against the governor of Michigan. that is so crazy. Just as crazy is Trump getting mad at her for not thanking him personally for the FBI's actions.

  47. So glad to hear your symptoms have been mild and you're feeling well, other than the fatigue! Hope you'll be back to feeling normal soon. Also, I gotta say I do love those Tokyo/Osaka walks :)
