Sunday Post #319

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer

It's Monday! What Are You Reading is hosted by Book Date

Last week after I posted about Harbor for the Nightingale (the new School for Unusual Girls book) I opened the mail and lo- there was a copy of the book from the author. What timing! Thank you to Kathleen Baldwin- it looks amazing in person! Also this week I was notified that I was selected as one of the Best Book Review Blogs of 2019 by Reedsy. I see on this list lots of other blogs that I know and love too- I have no idea what criteria they use or if this means much of anything- but it was still kinda neat. :)

In other news- the Bookish Games (A Darker Shade of Magic) are back underway, and you can find all the fun here. For those who don't know, the Bookish Games are where players are assigned Town (good guy) or Mafia (bad guy) roles- based on the books- and you have to vote off who you think are Mafia. It's fun and gets cutthroat AF. I'm just doing the Spectator Chat and honestly the Chat has been more fun than the Game so far! You can join here.

  1. I try to spend most of my time ignoring the news at the moment as it gets my blood pressure soaring! I wish I could build a prepper compound with a bunker and live off the grid and not care what happens once I lock the doors!!!

  2. And... I'm with Chuckles - every time I plug back into the news, I find myself yelling at the TV, using far too many really bad words. So I choose to ignore the lot of them, right now:(. As for the pics - thank you once again for a wonderful selection - I loved Scrapyard... Have a great week, Greg:)

I’m not even American and the state of your country’s politics are infuriating,

Wishing you a great reading week, enjoy your new books.

  17. I had to giggle about Lindsey Graham being pranked. He is so annoying, so it's all good!

Enjoy your books and your week, and thanks for visiting my blog.

  21. Well Greg for Graham in French we would say "l'arroseur arrosé" meaning that he was caught at his own game! Congrats on your nomination!!!!!! I know that I was absent from your blog this week due to migraines so now I'll go catch up with you ;-)

  24. I'm Canadian but I'm highly embroiled in the US' politics. I can't seem to stop. It's definitely not good for my sanity because it seems like everyday something atrocious is happening. Sigh.

Anyway, enjoy your reads this week!

  27. Congrats in the award! Very cool.

I saw that Graham story and what killed me is that he says one thing publicly and another on the call. All this political chaos is draining the life out of me lol

hope you had a nice weekend!

  28. I am mostly impressed that you managed to pick only ONE ridiculous story from the hellscape that has been this week's news. It all seems like a REALLY bad parody show at this point, and yet.

Congrats on the award! I got that email too, idk what it is either, but it sounds like a nice thing, so yay! And don't say we aren't FUN in the actual Game, we are VERY FUN PEOPLE.

Also I want to write a book about people who live in that apocalypse bus.

  29. So nice to have a book surprise and a blog celebration to bring some warm fuzzies. Enjoy the bookish games, so fun.

  31. Yay Gorgeous Greg for the special recognition. You deserve it!😍 Hope all is well. Hugs, RO

  32. I agree that the recognition is gratifying. Stupid politics--eats into my reading time. LOL. Post Apocalyptic Cityscape 02 looks like it'd be a great writing prompt (for someone . . . not me).
