Sunday Post #309

This week has been all about binging shows for me. I finished up Another Life on Netflix- let me tell you, that has to be the most dysfunctional space crew ever. I mean, if Earth was in peril would you want that crew at the helm? But it's strangely watchable and Katie Sackhoff is awesome. Then I started High Seas, which is a Spanish production about murder on a cruise ship. It's kinda got an Agatha Christie vibe, sorta? I still need to finish Big Little Lies too. Oh, yeah, reading. Well... I did a little. I'm diving into Someone We Know by Shari Lapena next.

Oh, is anyone watching Black Spot yet? Talk to me, people...

Are you excited about Star Wars IX? Want spoilers? I know, most people don't, but I actively seek out spoilers sometimes for upcoming movies- especially Star Wars movies. I mean, I don't expect to like them anyway, given my experiences with the previous two, so it's not like I'm really out anything. Anyway, I discovered Spoilerboard for Star Wars IX this week- it has a collection of all the verified (or mostly verified) plot points and things we know. Worth a look if you don't mind spoilers.

  1. I've been watching a lot of TV lately, too. We finished both Castle Rock and Barry this week. I enjoyed Someone You Know. It is a nice quick read. Happy reading!

  2. I love the bold colors in the first few art pics this week, and holy crap, that one with the surfer gave me chills looking at it - and it's not just the shadows of the tentacles in the water.

And lol, I'm the opposite with spoilers, especially for Star Wars. I don't want to know ANYTHING. I would even prefer to avoid trailers if I can, but that's not always possible.

  3. I don't watch much TV, but I love Stranger Things. I haven't watched season 3 yet, though, because my kids are finally watching the first two seasons, and I thought it might be nice if we continue together.
Have a wonderful weekend and happy reading and watching ;)

  4. I don't know if or when I'll get to these newer Star Wars films. That second trilogy was such a disappointment with casting and plot that I've never watched any more of them! I've got a ton of TV series and films I need to get through so they are lower priority right now!

  5. I LOVE the surfer piece, it's so cool! I may check out the Star Wars spoilers since it's doubtful I'll see the movie. I'm just not crazy about the newer ones.

  6. I guess I've pretty much given up on Star Wars. For me, the original three movies (Ep. 4,5,6) will always be the "real" Star Wars movies. I wasn't impressed with Ep. 1-3 and even less so with these latest ones. I'll just live in the past, thank you very much. LOL

  7. I just finished watching Another Life, too. It turned out to be a really good show. I hope we get another season. Have a great week!

  8. I am so out of the TV loop. I watched exactly 2 hours of TV this whole week. Glad you enjoyed all your shows, though. I haven't seen any of the new Star Wars movies. I think the last one I saw was Episode 1. I don't really go to the movies either.

  9. I love the art! I am so behind with television shows. I do want to see Big Little Lies and a few others so I need to make some time for them. I don't think I would want to see any spoilers since I really like being surprised. Have a great week!

  10. I will definitely be getting to your review of The Girl and Red and debating if I should add to my TBR or not.

  11. I really liked your review of The Girl in Red. I had written it off because of seeing so many bad reviews, but you made me put it back on my tbr 👍✨

Have a wonderful new week. 🌞

  12. I just read the Star Wars leaks... I think I could like that ending. I'm not a huge Star Wars fan and in a minority in that the current trilogy is my favourite... I actually liked The Last Jedi!

  13. I haven't watched any TV at all, but Alta Mar (HIGH seas) is one that caught my attention! And I haven't even seen anything for Star Wars. I'm telling you, I'm so behind on everything.

  14. What? You like spoilers? That is crazy lol. JK . I try not to be spoiled on things but if I do get spoiled it is fine. To be honest I haven't hear any thing about the latest Star Wars movie. I know a lot of fans are hoping it is better than the last two and that it ends well but I am not holding my breath. Have a great week.

  15. I like the picture of the man riding the horse at night in the snow-- like the Misty Mountains!
I haven't been watching much tv this week. Your new books look intense and I have Someone We Know on my wishlist. Enjoy your week, Greg.

  16. I love the original Star Wars movies and I continue to watch the new ones because I just have to, but I don't like spoiler so I'll skip that link. I need to watch Black Spot and High Seas sounds good. Happy reading this week!

  17. I will have to give Black Spot a try after my Veronica Mars binge. :) I am not a Star Wars fan so I haven't checked anything out for it. I am not a fan of spoilers but sometimes it does help to know there is a spot your not going to like, say if they kill your favorite character!!

Cool art as always! Have a great week and happy reading!

  19. I've been binge-watching shows too, but mostly reality tv/home renovations shows which isn't even my kind of thing usually! I watched High Seas and it was ok for me, but what on earth was that ending?? I was so confused! I hope we get another season!
All the artwork is so gorgeous! Loving Vast Universe especially.
I hope you have a good weekend, Greg!

  20. Strangely watchable is a perfect description for the show. And I love Katie in anything. She was double tough in Ghosts Of Mars.
I'm finishing up with Stranger Things and then going to try Black Spots.

  21. High Seas sounds interesting. We like our Scandi and French dvd box sets, but I don't remember watching a Spanish series before. Would do us good to brush up on the language before our next winter voyage!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Having finished binging Star Trek Voyager, I’m now watching Deep Space Nine which is the only Star Trek series I never managed to finish. This time I’m determined.

Have a great reading week Greg :)

  23. Super excited to watch the next Star Wars film! It's my most anticipated film this year!

Also, I'm going to add all the series you've mentioned on my to watch list. They sound awesome!

    Have a wonderful week!

  24. I never binge watch tv series as I nearly never waych TV (too busy reading or blogging while I am not working LOL). I was away in the beginning og the week but as I love lady Gaga I am running to your post Greg! Have a great week (more binge watching?)

  25. We started watching High Seas, but the English dubbing was a little annoying and we didn't continue. But I loved the concept!

    ReplyDelete
  26. I didn't know Katee Sackoff was in a new series! Must get to that. I haven't even started Big Little Lies yet. To be honest I'm not all that excited about it. I'm more excited for Veronica Mars!

I want to read The Girl in Red. Hope you liked it. :)

  27. Whenever I need a break from reading, I tend to binge a lot of shows! All of the ones you mentioned are new to me, and I'm curious. I'm about to check out your review for The Girl in Red, and I cannot wait to see what you thought about Wilder Girls!

  28. I don't have Netflix so a lot of the shows that people are watching are ones that I haven't seen.

  29. I don't watch much TV usually. My husband and I have watched the first few episodes of Jane the Virgin recently, and my daughter has me watching Riverdale with her--we're on season two. Well, she's re-watched all three seasons repeatedly, but wanted me to watch with her this round. I just don't like the way TV shows wander, plot-wise.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I watched some of High Seas, too. :) Yay for Wilder Girls!

    ReplyDelete
  31. I started watching High Seas a while ago. It was good but it also feels a little predictible? Idk, I still have to finish it. I've heard so much Black Spot but haven't started it yet. Are you enjoying it?
I am excited to Watch Star Wars IX! I know the last two movies have been the worst in in the series, but I really don't care. I love going to the cinema to watch a Star Wars movie. And ohhh no, I do not seek spoilers. Like, ever lol.

  32. Your the second person today who has mentioned Another Life. I will definitely have to check out the show. Maybe after I get to the latest season of Stranger Things. Hopefully soon. I am glad you enjoyed The Girl in Red. I need to move that up on my TBR pile. It's getting such good reviews. I hope you have a great week, Greg!

  33. Huh, still no new takers for Black Spot? Sad. I will start Another Life when I finish Black Spot and also finish crying about The 100 not only over but being almost over-over. I am in love with the Vast Universe picture, too- like I want it as a mural on my wall or something!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on Another Life. I think I will look for that one. I have missed good scifi.

Glad to see you liked Girl in Red. It looks promising.

    Have a lovely week!

  36. I enjoyed reading a book by Shari Lapena and have thought about this new one. I've also enjoyed some books by Christina Henry but her genre isn't my favorite so I didn't read Girl in Red. Have a lovely week!

  37. I always like the LOTR art. We're ONE EPISODE from finishing Big Little Lies . . . I guess we'll finish it this week. Now I have another show to add to my list -- I have to check out the dysfunctional space crew.

  38. The only time I turn on my television is if there is baseball to watch. I can't imagine watching a whole series. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

    ReplyDelete
  39. I have been watching The Crown Season 1 and although I loved watching Downton Abbey, I don't see that attraction in this one. Who knows, maybe season 2 gets better? 🤔

Looking forward to your review of Wilder Girls! Looks quite interesting.

  43. I still need to finish season 2 of Big Little Lies as well. I don't know why I haven't been rushing to watch it but so far I've only finished 2 1/2 episodes.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Love the dark foresty art!! (Then again I always love the art you share!) High Seas sounds really good I will keep my eye out for it on Netflix!!

    ReplyDelete
  45. All of the art you share gets me every single time! I love all of these. That one with the surfer though is kind of like my worst nightmare (also might be why I really stopped going into deep waters LOL)! I get shivers and immediate goosebumps every time I look at it 😂Can't wait to see what you thought of Wilder Girls!

  46. I want to binge watch stuff too! This summer I did not spend as much time watching TV but Another Life is on my to watch list!

The Girl in Red looks like fun - I have a soft spot for anything inspired or related to fairy tales, any fairy tales!

  47. The past two weeks I was busy with other things. TV was not one of them *smile* But it sounds as if you were having fun. Happy reading and binge watching *smile*
