Arctica Vol 2

Arctica Vol. 2: Mystery Under the Sea

Arctica Vol. 2 Mystery Under The Sea picks up right after the first volume, with Dakota having narrowly escaped death after nearly being shot out of the sky. When a witness places the blame squarely on him he has to evade the police and resume his search for the missing Child before the authorities find him- or her, for that matter. To recap- Dakota is searching for a mysterious child who was found in a cylinder at sea- a cylinder that has been dated at a thousand years old. This Child is also able to read minds and seems very precocious for her age.

This one was better than the prior one. The art was more impressive, especially the underwater scenes and nighttime sequences. There's a standout action scene set on a riverboat as the three fugitives try to escape assassins, and the action shifts to the Cyclades later in this one, with the art capturing that area well also. All in all a pretty good package- great art, some nice character development, and a story that gets more interesting as it goes.

I'm starting to really like Dakota, and Mismy is already a favorite, but the Child kinda steals the show whenever she speaks. She's on a mission as well, and won't reveal what it entails, but she's clearly in charge of the situation and I'm looking forward to finding out more about her past.
