Top Ten Books You'd Mash Together

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Artsy reader Girl. Each week a new Top Ten list will be posted. Everyone is welcome to join. Link back so everyone can check out other bloggers' lists. It's a fun way to get to know fellow bloggers.

This week we are looking at books we'd mash together. This should be fun, and there will be some awesome combinations out there I imagine. I had fun with this one, but had to make some hard choices too! Here's my take.

The Lord of the Rings (The Lord of the Rings, #1-3)A Game of Thrones (A Song of Ice and Fire, #1)

I almost feel sorry for Middle earth here. I mean don't get me wrong, M-E can be a rough place, but Westeros? That's a whole other animal.

All Systems Red (The Murderbot Diaries, #1)The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet (Wayfarers, #1)

Can you imagine Murderbot in the Wayfarers universe?

The Voyage of the Dawn Treader (Chronicles of Narnia, #3)Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH

How about the rats of NIMH running around Narnia?

All Systems Red (The Murderbot Diaries, #1)A New Hope (Star Wars: Novelizations, #4)

I'm gonna go with Murderbot again- this time in the Star Wars universe.

The Hunger Games (The Hunger Games, #1)Divergent (Divergent, #1)

Katniss and Tris? What about Four? Love triangle!! Would Kat be Dauntless?

Related imageSuicide Squad: The Official Movie Novelization

How about the X-Men and Suicide Squad? Would Logan and Harley get along?

The Extinction Trials (The Extinction Trials, #1)Jurassic Park (Jurassic Park, #1)

If they can survive Piloria then Jurassic Park should be a breeze. Right?

Replica (Replica, #1)Image result for orphan black

I mean they could just join Clone Club at this point?

Warcross (Warcross, #1)Need

I don't even know how this would work- it'd probably be a mess.

Roadside Magic (Gallow and Ragged, #2)Tithe (Modern Faerie Tales, #1)

Could these be mashed together? Might be a trip.

  1. I skipped this one as I had no idea what to do with it but I like some of your choices. X-Men and Suicide Squad would be a lot of fun and Kat would be Dauntless! She and Four would work well together. I haven't read Murderbot yet but I can imagine it working well in a lot of places.

    1. It was a tough one. I like the idea of X-Men and SS! Logan and Harley would be a riot! And yes I think Tris and Four might get along swimmingly.

  2. First one would be fun! More magical version of Game of Thrones. Katniss and Tris would make a killer team! :)

  3. OOoh nice!! Hunger Games and Divergent would definitely be interesting and I've only read the latter! Same with The Extinction and Jurassic Park! Really want to read the former there! Great mashups!

  4. oooh, so many cool mash-ups! Xmen and Suicide Squad was inspired. They might all kill each other, but it'd be a good movie/book lol

  5. I did a terrible job with this week's topic (so I skipped it), but you did awesome! NIMH in Narnia sounds really cool, and I like the idea of the Divergent crew participating in the Hunger Games. Well done!

    1. Thanks! I wanted to fit NIMH in there somewhere! And yes I want to see the Divergent Games- I even like that title!

  6. Middle Earth and Westeros would be wonderful but terrifying. I can definitely see Saruman and Cersei working together. And Rivendell and High Garden would get along great. I'm not sure where the hobbits would fit in though... They seem far too innocent for anywhere in Westeros.

    1. Wouldn't it though? Saruman and Cersei is SCARY. And yes the hobbits would be in trouble in Westeros!

  7. Fun mash up ideas! I don't know all of these books, so I can't really say how they would work but I'm intrigued.

  8. I slightly deviated from the topic and instead of a top ten, I ended up with one thing: Classics mashed with Space...so basically I failed this week's. But I do love your idea of mixing Tolkien with Martin!

    1. Ooh I need to come see yours. And wouldn't Tolkien and Martin be a trip?

  9. Great job and list! I didn't even do TTT this week because it required too much thinking lol. I like the Hunger Games/Divergent mash up. Would Katniss and Tris be friends or enemies? Girl drama?

    1. Thanks Jolene! This one did require some thinking although I went off the top of my head- and the results surprised me! And right? I'm not sure Kat and Tris would get along- at least at first?

    1. I've coined the term Divergent Games- I like it. And yes the Replica clones might fit right in w/ Clone Club?

  13. I would definitely feel sorry for Middle Earth if it were mashed with Game of Thrones!! Or maybe Middle Earth would make Westeros a little less brutal? Here is our Top Ten Tuesday

  16. Oooo fun topic and I can totally see some of these mashing together seamlessly!

  17. You've put together some fun pairs! I haven't read many of these, but of course, I'm glad to spy Warcross and 'Narnia' on your list. Also in terms of the worlds (don't know about characters) or what I know of them, LOTR and Game of Thrones seem a good fit. :)

Also Suicide Squad and the X-Men!? Now there'd be an interesting mash up!!

Thanks for visiting Finding Wonderland, Greg.

    1. I had to mix Warcross w/ something. :) I thought LotR and GoT would be interesting too.

And yes X-Men/ Suicide Squad- I'd love it!

  18. The Tithe/Roadside Magic mashup intrigues me.

  19. I'm sure Katniss would be Dauntless... I think most YA heroines would. I like the NIMH/Dawn Treader idea and the GoT/LoTR idea as well.

    1. I think so too. And yeah good point! I think NIMH and dawn Treader would be fun!

  20. I definitely think Katniss would be Dauntless. But what if Tris were brought into Panem...do you think she'd survive the games?

Have a great week. - Katie

    1. I do too. And that's a good question- I think she's have a shot but honestly- I like Kat's chances better!

  21. You really picked some great pairings. GoT and LOTR are definitely ones that would make for an interesting mash-up. Voyage of the Dawn Treader and the rats of NIMH sounds like it should already be a thing, haha! And Hunger Games and Divergent--now that would be interesting. Great list!

    1. Thanks Jordan! I want the Divergent Games now. And yes to NIMH in Narnia- we already have Reepicheep, would he get along w/ the rats? I kinda hope so :)

  24. Fantastic picks this week! I would LOVE to read a book that combines Martin and Tolkien!

  25. Anything crossed with Jurassic Park would be a winner in my books. Dinosaurs make everything cooler, it is a fact!

  26. I haven't read Murderbot, but imagining a murderbot traveling around any universe is concerning lol. Re: Divergent and Hunger Games, don't you mean love hexagon? ;-) I mean, Katniss already had a love triangle going on, so that would get pretty interesting!

    ReplyDelete
  27. GREG! I'm back here after what? Actually, let's not get into that. FAR TOO LONG!

Love your choices for this week's topics!

Westeros is SO rough. YIKES. And I laughed about the Katniss and Tris and Four triangle. Kat probably would have been Dauntless... But I think she'd prefer to be in Amity now!

  28. This is such a great list!!! I looooove the idea of GOT and LOTR together! That would be a crazy awesome combination. And putting The Voyage of the Dawn Treader with the Rats of NIMH was so clever! I'd totally read that book. Awesome post!

  29. A mashup of Tolkien and GRRM?! Yes, please!

    ReplyDelete
  30. The NIHM rats in Narnia might liven that series up. I didn't like The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe at all. 😝

    ReplyDelete
  31. I love your take on this one! I kind of locked up and skipped it. I love the idea of combing Tolkien and GRRM and yes to Narnia/NIHM rats. That's brilliant!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Interesting mashups, Greg!! The only one of these I've read is "The Lord of the Rings", but, from what I know of these plots, I think these mashups would be a BLAST!!

The Martha Wells pairing with the Star Wars universe would probably be HILARIOUS! I mean, Murderbot, C3PO, and R2D2? TOO funny!! :) :)

    Thanks for sharing!! <3 :)

  33. Ahhh this is such a fun post - I love seeing unusual books pairing! Divergent and The Hunger Games would make a fun pairing for sure haha, I'd love to figure out Katniss' faction :)

  34. Wait, wait, wait! The Secret of Nimh is a book???? OMG *runs off to buy it to relive childhood properly*

    ReplyDelete
  35. I think a lot of mash ups would end up being a mess, but doesn't make you want them any less.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Haha yes westeros is a compelete different animal. Could you also imagine Smaug and Dani's dragons meeting? Because that would be interesting...

  37. Murderbot yay! I did a Murderbot mashup with Wells' Raksura series :D
