Favorite Book Titles II

The Girl from the Sea

This is the second part of my look at favorite book titles. A lot of times it's the combination of title and cover art that draws me in, or other times it's one or the other. In this particular case though there's something about each of these titles that I think really works, or is just evocative to me. Which are your favorites- let me know!

THE COURTS OF CHAOS

Something about this one? It just oozes mysteriousness...

The Courts of Chaos

RED EYE OF BETELGEUSE

This is old school SF all the way, with evocative titles and inspiring artwork. Okay, sometimes. Still this puts me in mind of some star- spanning galactic adventure.

Red Eye of Betelgeuse (Perry Rhodan - English, #40)

PLANET OF NO RETURN

Another Golden age SF pick. I mean that's a pretty uncompromising title, and the backdrop with a moon or planet in the background- it just has atmosphere.

THE SNOWS OF GANYMEDE

I like titles that evoke a sense of place, and where better than a moon of Jupiter to do that?

The Snows of Ganymede

RADIO SILENCE

Okay moving on from old school SF. I love this title because to me it speaks to loneliness maybe, or sorrow of some kind, or maybe just wanting to be understood?

Radio Silence

THE LIFEBOAT CLIQUE

Right there you know something is going on, otherwise why are they in a boat?

The Lifeboat Clique

HALF-OFF RAGNAROK

Looks like a fun book. I just like that title.

Half-Off Ragnarok (InCryptid, #3)

DEAD GIRLS SOCIETY

With a title like that you gotta wonder...

Dead Girls Society

THE ENCHANTRESS OF WORLD'S END

More old school craziness. Seriously though- that title??

The Enchantress of World's End (Godwane Epic, #2)

  5. I'm intrigued about a bunch of these. One book that I have on my to-red list SOLELY because of the name is "The Bad-Ass Librarians of Timbuktu: And Their Race to Save the World’s Most Precious Manuscripts". Still haven't read it though.

  7. I like these! You are right, Radio Silence does give off a certain... vibe. Which is a good thing, sets the tone for sure. The Lifeboat Clique totally sucked me in with the title (have you read it? It was only okay for me.) The Courts of Chaos sounds like the original inspiration for a Maas book- only way better than any of those hahha. Red Eye of Betelgeuse is fun too, I think I'd want to know what that one was about. The Enchantress of World's End... she's like the Head Bitch in Charge of the Apocalypse, right? OMG, that is what Octavia should be called in the bunker!!

  8. Ooh The Courts of Chaos is a good one! The Radio Silence gives me that same feeling that you described. The Lifeboat Clique just makes me think those are some pretty crappy people if they won't even let the one girl be in the lifeboat with them lol.

  9. my favorite has to be Dead Girl Society. It's like a jump start for any imagination. A bunch of dead girls? and they form a society? What could possibly be about?? Only bad things come to my mind LOL Radio Silence is my next PPP

  10. I love the titles of the old SF. They're like the titles of the original Nancy Drew - a little over the top but guaranteed to grab your imagination. I think Radio Silence is my favorite. There's something so forbidding and ominous about those two words.
