Bookcover Spotlight #110

Watch Me Disappear

Several people have pointed out that I seem to like covers with water, and I guess that's true! This week's cover is no exception. This one I like because it almost feels like you're in the water- you know, that feeling when you'e not quite submerged, but almost?

  1. Maybe it's because you live near the water. Wait, don't you? Anyway, yeah, I like the perspective of being in the water.

  2. I apologize if you get this comment a few times, google seems to hate me this morning :/

Anywho - I also love water covers, so no complaints here! This one is very relaxing to me because I love to be in the ocean - it settles me. I need to see what it's about, I kind of doubt that's the intended response lol!

  3. Now that I think of it - you do feature a lot of covers with water.

They do have different moods though. I remember a few lighter ones set by pools as this one has more of a Jaws vibe lol

  4. I like it, although it could be kind of scary - like just barely being able to keep your head above water.

  5. I've just read a great review of this one which has me wanting it. Love the cover as well.

  6. I love this cover! Especially because the waves slightly cover the word "disappear!"

  7. I enjoy water covers too- probably my second favorite cover type, next to space covers. I like this one, too- pretty, but a bit foreboding too!

  8. Hmm, this particular view reminds me of being in open water - a prospect that freaks me out! So to me this cover is actually quite anxiety-inducing, haha! :D

  9. So long since I've been for a swim! I'd love my own pool but need to win the lottery first.

  10. This cover feels rather threatening to me. Like I could drown in those waves.

It also reminds me of a terrible film I watched where a couple had been diving and came up to find the boat they were in had left without them. I can't remember the name of it. However, nothing much happened in the plot, other than they stayed in the water for a very long time and drowned just before the rescue boat arrived. Probably wouldn't pick up this book on the grounds of that lol!

  11. Yes, I like the perspective this is presented in! The way the water is positioned in the cover makes me feel like I'm floating away. Also, water is pretty. And super weird if you think about it too much. don't.

  12. LOL you do like water covers! Only water outside I'm okay with is a pool. I'm such a wuss on natural water. But it is a neat perspective for this one.

  13. I like covers with water, too! Particularly for thrillers. Let's face it: there's something mysterious and awe-inspiring and unsettling about large bodies of water, especially the ocean!

  14. I really like this one too. It's simple but very effective and immediately makes me want to flip it over and read the back to see what it's about since it's both pretty but also possibly a little creepy since it gives that sensation that you're sinking.

  17. Definitely looks like you're in the water, and with no land or anything in sight, it could be a scary feeling!
