Sunday Post #200

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer

My 200th Sunday Post. Wow. I've been doing this one for a while now and I love how it's a community within the community, you know? I've made a lot of friends because of this meme and would like to give a big shout out to Kimba who makes this happen every week. My version of this has morphed a lot over the last couple years and sometimes I get a bit carried away with the extras, but I love sharing 'em and if people are clicking over to Artstation or a website and discovering some cool art... well, that's the point.

So this week it's been milder, mostly 70's- no 90's thankfully- and I did a ton of reading. I'm on such a roll with good books- other than the occasional dud everything's been pretty good. I've been steering back towards fantasy/ SF since reading so many psychological thrillers lately- and my upcoming books are a nice mix. I've been watching The White Princess (kinda bored) and Shetland (awesome) and I watched S4 of Black Sails also.

I reviewed Brave New Girl and talked about Jon Snow this past week in my discussion post. I'll have a review up this week for Dangerous Girls and Ivory and Bone is coming up too.  And... on Monday I'll have another flash fiction. On The Run part II - you can find the first one right here

    1. Thanks! We had pretty good weather this week- amazingly it wasn't too hot!

  2. I am planning to watch The White Princess at some point but who knows when that will be! I've had a great reading week and I hope to be reading a lot up to the end of the month. The Sacred Flames picture reminds me a little of Castle Black.

    1. I hope you like it. I thought it had potential but by episode five I was kinda not really with it anymore. And yes that would be a very cool version of Castl Black wouldn't it??

  3. Wow! Happy 200! :) That's awesome. And yes - it's always great to catch up with the Sunday Post regulars that I normally chat to. Unfortunately from my side I have limited time so I haven't yet managed to get around to everyone but one day I'll be able to blog hop to everyone! I know EVERY blog that I've ever been to you have been there! Do you visit EVERYONE?

I'm a bit behind this week still catching up from having been away but I can't wait to get back to the posts of yours that I have missed, particularly Jon Snow discussions!

P.S. I'm a huge fan of the artwork you post - don't ever stop!

    1. Thanks Di! I agree the SP is one of my favorite parts of the week. And no I don't visit everyone although sometimes I wonder! lol I usually hit the same one more or less, people I know, maybe half or more? And I do try to visit newbies if I see em, to welcome em.

I hope you like the Jon Snow discussion!

  6. Wow, your 200th Sunday Post?! That's awesome, Greg! I'll have to check out your review for Dangerous Girls. I didn't round on the blogs much this week because real life has kept me way too busy! *sigh*

    1. Thanks Kristina! And I liked the White Princess at first, thought it had potential, but my episode 5 I was kinda flagging out. It just seemed to lack something...

  8. Wowww 200 posts?! That's incredible! Yay for more flash fiction too! A lot of people have said White Princess is meh, so that sucks. I'm curious about your thoughts on Dangerous Girls and Ivory and Bone- I was kind of underwhelmed by I&B, I hope you had better luck with it!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I know, right? I can't even believe it at all. And yes- I am having a BLAST writing the flash fiction. Thank you for reading it!! I watched 5 episodes of White Princess and it just got more and more boring, so yeah- I've given up.

I know what you mean about Ivory and Bone- I liked it but it wasn't stellar. It was weird how they were Ice Age people but used words like kitchen and pants. Am I the only one who found that weird?? Dangerous Girls though was awesome.

  9. Hey, congrats on #200! I like hitting milestones like that. #250 is somewhat around the corner for me. Time just flies by, honestly!

How did you feel about Ivory and Bone? I didn't love it so I didn't follow up with the sequel. :/ Oh well!

Have a wonderful weekend, Greg. =)

    1. Thank you! You're closing in on 250- wow.

Ivory and Bone was okay, i liked it but it wasn't excellent. I just read the second one and liked it maybe a bit more, since it involved an unexplored island and I liked that- but they're strictly 3 star reads for me.Nothing mindblowing.

  10. Wow, congratulations, Greg. Yep, cannot agree more with you, the Sunday Post really is a community within a community. I've met lots of new friends because of it, including you. Anyway, enjoy your books and have a wonderful week.

  13. Happy 200th Post - a real achievement - have they all been consecutive or have their been gaps? I agree with you on the community - this meme is my favourite! Here's to another 200!

    1. Thank you. And I think there have been gaps- I don't know offhand how many but I'm sure it's not consecutive. Makes me curious though... I'll have to go back through the archives and look.

And yes this is probably my favorite meme- I've stuck with it because of the community.

  20. Glad you are enjoying your reading. It's nice to read a variety of genres and change it up once in awhile. I haven't read as much fantasy or science fiction this year. It's mostly been historical or contemporary fiction. Right now I am reading a historical mystery which is one of my favorite genres.

We are supposed to get milder weather this coming week. I think tomorrow it may only be in the 60s! I like temperatures in the 80s so hopefully we'll get there before too long.

Hope you have a wonderful week!

    ReplyDelete

    1. I agre- the changing of genres has really kept my reading fresh over the last year or so. It's funny too when I look back at what I was reading when I started vs now- quite the change!

I like historical fiction too, but have read less lately? This year has been some YA and lots of thrilers, and now I seem to be in SF mode.

  21. Our weather is back and forth between 70's and 90's with rain in between. :) I am enjoying Shetland but I figured I would as I love crime shows. :) I made a list of all the shows on netflix that I would like to watch and OMG it was longer than I thought...lol.

    Hope you enjoy your reads!

  24. Philly was getting close to the 90 degrees weather before I left, and omg it made me so cranky. I'm not a heat person at all. I'm glad I'm back below the equator for the summer, where it's cooler!
I watched the first episode of White Princess, and it didn't really catch my attention. If it's boring, I probably won't try it.
Hope you enjoy your books! :)
