Cover Characteristics Stormclouds

Cover Characteristics is a meme by Sugar and Snark- every week a characteristic is selected and we post 5 books with that week's theme.

This week's pick- Stormclouds

This week the regular topics resume as Cover Characteristics is off hiatus. The topic is Handcuffs but... I had a topic teed up so I'm going with that and I'll catch up on Handcuffs either next week or the following week. This week I'm looking at storm clouds. I love a good storm- crackling thunder, lightning and the wind in the trees. I especially love a good storm at night, and watching a storm roll in (especially over water) is awesome. Storms can be relaxing too- hearing the raindrops pattering on the roof can be comforting in its own way. And often the afterstorm as well- when the sky slowly clears but you can hear the moisture dripping off the eaves, and there is still a rumble of thunder occasionally in the distance.

Ten Legacy of the Clockwork Key (The Secret Order, #1)The Lighthouse Mystery (The Boxcar Children Mysteries)The Young Elites (The Young Elites, #1)Vicarious (Vicarious, #1)Ferocious (Vicarious, #2)Siren (Siren, #1)Fracture Me (Shatter Me, #2.5)Starcrossed (Starcrossed, #1)

Ten

It just looks like a storm is about to break.

Legacy of the Clockwork Key (The Secret Order, #1)

I've always loved this cover for the storm clouds.

The Lighthouse Mystery (The Boxcar Children Mysteries)

This is actually a pretty good storm scene.

The Young Elites (The Young Elites, #1)

Such a moody atmospheric cover.

Vicarious (Vicarious, #1)

If anything looks like a snow storm?

Ferocious (Vicarious, #2)

The follow up to Vicarious- again looks like snow.

Siren (Siren, #1)

Love this cover with the storm clouds and the waves rolling in.

Fracture Me (Shatter Me, #2.5)

Are they clouds? I don't know but I like.

Starcrossed (Starcrossed, #1)

  1. Oh crap, I'd better go check and see what next week's topic is if it's back lol. I'm pretty sure I had like one cover with handcuffs, so I'm not too upset about missing that topic. But anyway, I wouldn't have even noticed the storminess on most of these, you've got a good eye! My favorite is probably Fracture Me, and then Ten, and then Vicarious. Siren is very, like, haunting and interesting though. I'm wondering what those three woman are doing and why they're just standing in a kind of formation and looking so calm...

I've always liked rain, but maybe not quite storms since then you have the risk of power going out and whatnot.

    1. Glad you saw this, I was going to DM you otherwise to let you know. I've got a handcuff post started with some, ah, interesting picks lol. Pulp covers and all that, you never know what you'll find. But yeah I have a few topics lined up so I'll be juggling for a few weeks...

Thanks! I had fun w/ this one. I love storms though. Fracture Me is great, and Siren... Those three are the sirens I'm assuming although one might be the main character. It's got a tense vibe and starts with a woman leaping to her death, so it's got the atmosphere down. :)

  2. I like the rain and stormy looking skies Kristen! As long as I'm not OUT in the storm that is, and I do like that kind of book cover! I like the Kristin Bailey book cover the best because of the bird!

  6. I love that cover of Fracture Me! Haven't read any of these books, but a lot of these covers sure make the tone before you start reading dark and gloomy.

  9. Covers with storms just set the mood straight away, like you know there's going to be some sort of huge conflict going on. We'd like to say The Young Elites is our favourite, but it's because we're biased and like Marie Lu. Ferocious is definitely our favourite though. A fun post :)

  10. I think my favorite will have to be Young Elites. Not only because I was loving the book before I had to put it aside but because I really like the big letter against the cloudy background.
