Sunday Post #159

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer

The warm temps continued this week and it was HOT early on. Muggy too- but it got better later in the week. Still feels like summer. I'm in fall mode though on the blog, planning out posts for October and looking at some of the fun stuff happening in the blogosphere for fall. I've got a few posts in the can for SciFi Month in November as well. That looks like it's going to be a lot of fun this year, over 30 people have already signed up I guess. Check it out here

I had a good reading week too and mostly stayed off Netflix. I'm not really binging anything at the moment although this past week's Top Ten posts gave me some ideas for new shows to watch. What is everyone watching- any suggestions? The other big news locally is the Renaissance Festival is back in town- I haven't been over there yet but will be soon.

This past week I reviewed Vicarious and I read The Girl From The Sea. That review will be up soon and I'm currently reading The Incident on the Bridge.

  1. That Dragon's lair looks amazing! I haven't seen any of the Underworld films either but that trailer makes me think I might want to?

    1. Doesn't it? I love it! And I'm thinking the same thing about Underworld!

  2. Yeah it was hot and humid here too. Patiently waiting for fall weather. I actually started a new show on Netflix finally. I started Dexter and liking it. I can't wait for all the fall shows to come on though. Have a great week!!

    1. It actually cooled off here tonight and it's beautiful out - kinda cool and windy. Yay for new shows!

  3. I still had the AC on yesterday, but fall is definitely on the way. Leaves are beginning to change and apple season is underway, too. Fall seems to put me in the mood to read classics and I've been reading Germinal by Emile Zola for the last several days. Hope you have a good week!

    1. The AC's been on here too- off an on. We were quite muggy for a while. Our leaves haven't changed much yet but I've seen a bit. And I do read by season a bit, my mood seems to change depending on time of year.

  4. It's warm here too, but we're definitely cooling down (thankfully). I like the hot weather, but I'm ready for fall. I just don't want winter!

The cover of Nerve is cool - took me a good minute to figure out what the book was called lol!!

So we're finally watching desperate housewives (it's in hulu) and I'm really enjoying it. A lot more than I thought I would.

    Have a great week Greg!

    1. It's cooled here some. I'll take it. And I know about that cover- it took me a minute to figure it out too. Glad you found something good- I don't have Hulu but they seem to have lots of shows.

  5. I'm still making my way through season 2 of Bloodline on Netflix. That is one messed up family. I'm ready for the weather to match my spirit, too. :)

    1. Aren't they? Those Rayburns... I kinda like John even though a lot of people didn't like him in S2. And the younger brother- drawing a blank on his name- he's a glorious mess isn't he lol? I like that show...

  6. Yep, still feels like summer here too. I don't normally plan posts according to season or holiday, but I do have one vampire book review that I scheduled to go up in October cuz I might as well w/ Halloween so close lol, and I was thinking of doing some more creature themed cover posts, maybe a vampire book rec post or something.

That pulp book must be pretty intense considering sale to minors was forbidden??! But I guess considering it's title is "Nympho's Shame Pit"... Lol.

Have fun at the Renaissance Festival!

    1. Vampires and October- that's a good combo. Do some creature posts- I'd love to see 'em. I want to do some monster themed posts in October too if all goes well. I did vampires last week but felt like I was only scratching the surface- so many good ones.

I know right about the pulp cover. I saw that one and was like um, yeah. Okaaaay then. Times were different apparently...

I love the Ren faire! One of my favorite times of years.

  7. Congrats on staying off of Netflix for a little while. I just returned to Netflix after a couple months without. Oh how I've missed it. :P

I'm jealous that the Renaissance Festival is back in town near you! The closest one we have is over an hour away and no public transport goes up there. Makes it super hard to get up there without a car.

  10. I'm intrigued by Swamp Painting. So eerie and mysterious.

Of course I had to find another show on Netflix, while waiting for Season 5 of Longmire...I stumbled upon an Australian show called Offspring. The family is dysfunctional, naturally, and one of its members, Nina, is an obstetrician.

I finished the pilot and now I'm hunkering down for more.

Thanks for visiting my blog, and let's hope our temperatures cool way down.

    1. I thought so too. I like the mysteriousness a bit... Offspring sounds good. If there's one thing about Netflix it's the sheer variety- I have discovered so many shows. And it's nice to seeAussie shows, European dramas, I love it.

  22. Today is the first day it finally is cooling off. This weak was BRUTAL! Poor kids were DYING in school it was so hot. I don't know how we did it as kids with no AC in school unless it was never this hot.

I can't wait for Fall, I am so excited it is almost here :) The weather better corporate, I don't want to be winter jipped again.

They just had the Ren Fair in NY but always miss it. Really want to take the kids one year, maybe when they are a little older I think my daughter would enjoy it more than my son.

Have a great week, Greg! Happy Reading!

  33. It really has been the strangest weather. I can't remember ever having 80 degree weather in Sept. The side benefit to that is my tomatoes are finally coming in and I grew a green pepper (yes, 1 green pepper!)

I signed up for the SciFi event! SciFi is not my norm, but this sounded like fun and will push me to discover some new reading! I'm excited! Thanks for sharing about it last week! I've been looking at all sorts of best scifi reads.

    Have a great week!

Nerve looks so good - can't wait to see your thoughts.

Well done on not so much TV this week - I wish I could say the same but unfortunately the US Open has held far too much pull ;)

  47. Same here, it still feels like summer. It's halfway through September and it still feels way too warm.

That renaissance festival sounds like fun, I hope you have time to stop by.

That Dragon's Lair picture looks like it can be used for a roleplaying game. That swamp picture is very pretty with the dark atmosphere. I hope you're having a great week!

  48. I live in Texas so it definitely still feels summery here as well, but I'm getting into fall mode. Whew, kudos to you for staying off Netflix. I've had a hard time with that lately. haha. I've been watching more of The Ranch and I'm really liking it! I think I have only 2 episodes left to watch and it's just been getting better and better as it goes along. So I definitely recommend that one.
