Sunday Post #142

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer

I had a good week - a bit of reading, a bit of watching and lots of sun. As the warm weather arrives I've been thinking a bit about blog plans for the next few months- I like to change it up once in a while- so I'm thinking of what works and what doesn't. I've done Bookstore Spotlights in the past and would like to get back to doing those- hopefully this summer that will happen.

I seem to have fixed the problem of what to read next- this week I added a bunch of books, many of which I saw on blogs, so now I have a nice cushion again. Also the third Country Club Murders book by Julie Mulhern arrived this week and that's at the top of my list. I'll be reviewing it on Thursday.

In other news I won the April Discussion Giveaway over at It Starts At Midnight. How cool is that? I selected the new Stephanie Perkins summertime anthology so I'm looking forward to seeing that in a bit (it comes out in a week or so). And my current reads kinda look like this.

The Incident on the Bridge Summer Days & Summer Nights: Twelve Love Stories

  3. That first image you shared is dreamy! I wish I was there now...especially since it's rainy here today! As always, I love your sci-fi fantasy pictures too ♥ YAY for adding new books to your tbr and for wining the discussion contest!! Love the ambient music too, it's perfect as background music when you're reading or just relaxing! Happy weekend Greg :)

  5. Congrats on winning the discussion giveaway! And that's great that you've got a nice TBR list and won't have to worry about running out of something to read next :-) I imagine most bloggers probably have the opposite problem though lol.

Also, Trailer Trollop. What a name, haha. And "They lived in a house of sin -- on wheels!" is killing me lol.

    1. I know? I couldn't stop laughing when I found that one- I mean seriously??? That might be the worst one I've found. The taglines are the worst (or the best, depending on how you look at it). :)

Yeah I was scraping by with what I wanted to read next, and luckily found some stuff to add. And my TBR is a lot shorter than most bloggers'- I just don't add a ton or it would be a mile long too.

      Delete
    2. Definitely the best lol.

And I seriously don't know how you do it with the TBR thing, or lack thereof. Like, I can't stand the thought of finding an interesting book and then losing it or forgetting about it because I didn't save it!

    3. I don't know, it's like I have a list on a sheet of paper (how's that for tech) but it's not that long lol... a dozen or so titles. It changes as I lose interest in one or add others. If I used Goodreads properly I'd probably have 1000 books on there like everyone else, but I'm always afraid I'll have all these shelves and still never get to them all. I am doing a little better though... :)

  6. Oh that bridge and waterway is just stunning Greg. Really transports you there.

I'm glad you've had better weather. The nights are finally getting cooler here (under 20C) so I'm starting to get excited about winter!

And yay for new books. I finally requested some on NetGalley this past week as I'd mainly been getting hard copies from publishers but it opens a few doors and offers some international books that would take longer to get here!

    1. You're cooling off huh? It's finally starting to get nice here- although we get nice days punctuated by rain lol. Isn't that pic great? Love that one!

    Have a great week, Greg!

    1. I haven't watched all the seasons if I have to be honest- I've seen most but I'm just plowing ahead w/ the new ones. Since I've read the books I figure I know what's going on. Course that may be changing soon! Have a nice week. :)

I look forward to your thoughts on Clouds in My Coffee. And I have The Invisible Library to read. Looking forward to that. Looks like you've got some good books to read. Hope you enjoy them.

  22. Congratulations on winning the April Discussion Giveaway - and I've just been scrambling around after seeing your list - Kelley Armstrong has started a NEW series??? So we've just ordered it from the library. I LOVE the Trailor Trollop cover - AND (in a completely different way) the artwork you display. I had a real 'Ahhh' moment over Stefan Morrell's 'Arizona Bay'. Have a great week and I'm glad you've got hold of some more books. This is my week -

    1. Thank you! I think that Armstrong book is a non supernatural from what I've heard- a crime/ psychological thriller I think. I like the premise of it. And Trailer Trollop-- I had to share, those old covers (and taglines) are SO out there. :)

I liked Arizona Bay as well (and think Sci Fi Sunrise is quite exceptional in the large version).

  24. I hope I can start the Country Club Murders series soon as it sounds like a great series. I hope you'll enjoy the third book in that series.

And ya for winning a giveaway! That's always exciting!

Oh and I am looking forward to hear what you think of City of the Lost, I loved that book! My only 5 star read of the year so far.

I always like seeing those futuristic city scapes, they look so pretty! That steampunk-ish one is great too! You always find the best pictures and I always enjoy looking at them in your Sunday posts. I hope you'll have a great week!

  29. I'll be starting Exile for Dreamers this week myself! Can't wait to hear what you thought of it as well. Hope you have a great week coming up, and thanks for stopping by my Sunday Post earlier.

Grats on the win! I've never read Julie Mulhern but the Clouds in the Coffee book looks fun!

  32. I always look forward to a Lauren Oliver book. Congrats on the win. I hope the cold spells are over!

  33. Yes, there is a ton of space music on Youtube. When I used to do most of my blogging on my laptop I listened to a lot with my headphones on , but they are kind of unwieldy when using my tablets. The Invisable Library looks interesting. I am going to stop back around to catch your villain discussion post. I didn't do much blog visiting last week, but I plan to make up for it this week. Our weather turned cold again the past three days. I haven't looked at the forcast for next week, but I am hoping it is going to warm up. Have a fabulous week.

  36. That video looks so awesome! I stopped watching GoT out of choice but I enjoy seeing spoilers about it (there's no where to avoid it actually). Hope you enjoy your reads!

  37. Is the Dark Matter tv series based on the book series by Blake Crouch, the guy who wrote Wayward Pines? I can't wait for that to come back- I haven't missed it have I? Lol. I enjoy Kelley Armstrong's books, especially the new Cainesville series. Have you caught the television series for her werewolf books? It is a bit cheesy and weird quality, but I got sucked in anyway.

    Have a great week!

  38. I don't watch Games of Thrones but that scene done with the lightsabers is cool! :) Looks like you got some nice books to read this week! Enjoy and Happy reading!
