Sunday Post #67

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It's Monday! What Are You Reading is hosted by Sheila at Book Journey.

The last weekend of October is on us, and this month has flown by. I've enjoyed the fall activities and the turning leaves- October is one of my favorite months and I'll be sorry to see it go. And thanksgiving and Christmas are right around the corner...

A few leaves are still falling as I write this, and the trees in the back are all golden and yellow. I didn't so much reading this week but I did finish a holiday read- my thoughts on it should be up this week. Last week I posted a few older reviews- feel free to check them out if you're interested. They're all good fall reads in their own way, I think.

CURRENTLY READING:

Murder at the Brightwell

NEW ARRIVALS:

 The Nine Lives of Christmas

  1. I am sad that October is almost over too. I am not ready for winter weather but maybe it won't get bad till January!

I hope you are enjoying Murder at the Brightwell. I want to read more of the Rhys Bowen mysteries.

  3. I am anxious to read your thoughts on Trust Me, I'm Lying. October is a favorite for me as well, but I dread the cold. Right now the weather is perfect. Hope Murder in Brightwell is going well. It is on my wishlist. Enjoy your last week of October :)

  5. I'm sooo super excited for the Avengers 2!! SQUEEEE!! It looks a lot darker and higher with the stakes than the first, which is going to be fabulous. XD

  7. Lol, it's already winter in Sarajevo - we had first snow day in the season.

You got some great books there, Greg. I hope they will live up to the expectations.

    Confession - I still haven't watched Avengers. :(

  8. October has flown by hasn't it? It's also one of my favourite months of the year too. The weather is beautiful and everything is in bloom for Spring here in Australia.
Hope you have a great week Greg.

    1. It has flown by, wow. Can't believe it... I'm a little jealous of your spring weather, even though I'm liking autumn. Once the cold comes I'll be complaining about that. :)

  9. We haven't tackled our leaves yet-you can't even see our grass right now there's so many of them on the ground :p Raking is on the 'to do' list for this week, but we'll see if it actually gets done lol. And thanks for the shout out today :)

  10. Leaves are falling here too. I have to get in the pool today to remove a bunch at the bottom and it's some chilly water. Should wake me up to do some more reading. LOL
I'm curious about Trust Me, I'm Lying. Catchy title and I've seen it around lately.
I just watched The Birds this week. I still love that movie.

    1. I'll bet the water is chilly! Yikes. I'm curious about Trust Me as well, it's an intriguing idea and I hope it's good.

The Birds is awesome, I might need to pop that in for a watch before the end of the month!

  12. October is definitely my favorite month, and not just because it's my birthday month..LOL. I love fall, and it's the perfect time to travel (for me). It's not too hot or too cold yet, usually. I saw Boston in October...Sedona twice in October. The coast many times in October.

I am loving the covers of your books...there is something very retro about them. And I ADORE The Birds, even though it renews my terrible fright of winged creatures all over again.

Trust Me I'm Lying sounds intriguing. Enjoy!

    1. Fall is a great time to travel, no doubt. I could get used t othe weather in both fall and spring- not to ohot or cold, I agree. :)

I love the Birds too, one of my faves.

  13. Glad you still have beautiful foliage to appreciate. Some areas have already lost their leaves but Michigan sounds beautiful as usual. I'd like to visit there sometime; Michigan sometimes gets a bad rap because of talk of Detroit and yet so many MI bloggers have shown how wonderful the state is!

Sounds like you had a nice MG-timeless story week. And I see you read the Nine Lives of Christmas and I received that one from Sheila Roberts and might read it for my Ho Ho Holiday Readathon, so I'm interested in your thoughts. Thanks.

  15. I love this time of year, but my goodness this year has flown by! I can't believe it'll be November in less than a week! The Avengers trailer looks absolutely amazing :D I'm really curious about True Me I'm Lying. It sounds like a fantastic read, I hope you really enjoy it :) Happy reading, and have a great week!

  16. I always enjoy autumn, but winter has it's own beauty as well. I don't mind the snow as long as I can inside the house. The end of October does mean it's almost November, I am excited for the start of sci-fi month!

    1. I don't mind winter as long as it's not too bad... last winter was tough. Not as mild as they had been for a few years... I'm excited about SciFi Month too and am slowly getting some posts in order.

  17. It's hard to believe that October is almost over! It's finally getting between the 70 & 80 degrees here so it's now just feeling like Fall. I loved the Middle Earth video! It was so funny and I can't wait to watch the next movie. The Avengers clip looked really good and The Birds scared me as a little kid (our school always had black birds perched on the playground lol). Have a great week!

  18. I love Krackles! I love those assorted minis - I could just eat them all! Our leaves have just started to turn and our temps have actually gone down into the 70s/80s which is nice. It sounds like you've had a fantastic fall! I have the Rhys Bowen and am looking forward to reading that one and Murder at the Brightwell is still tempting me. You MUST read The Birds by Daphne du Maurier. It's the story that inspired the movie and it's so good. I desperately need to re-watch the movie. Have a great week!

    1. Krackles are the best! The other ones are good too... :) Brightwell is good so far. I'm liking it a lot. I'll have to seek out the Birds original story, I'm intrigued now. And maybe I'll have to rewatch the movie too...

  19. Many of us have been talking about how time has flown by. It's almost November. I still can't believe it.

I've been wanting to try Rhys Bowen's books. They look good. Nine Lives for Christmas has been on my TBR for awhile now.

    Have a great week!

  22. Autumn can be a busy time and I too love the colour changes. Upper mid west in the USA is that like near Chicago or somewhere else. I guess it gets cold and snowy anyway in winter. I love winter and the cold because you can curl up inside cosy with a good book!

  23. Nice mysteries! I like the cover of the cat Christmas. Hope it's a good read.

  24. I hate to see October end, too. Judging from your arrivals, your reading will be moving on to the next season soon ;-)

  25. As a cat lover, I must try The Nine Lives of Christmas....LOL

    Have a good week Greg.

  26. I need to rake too... actually this year I waited so long that I am going to just mow over the leaves. That LOTR safety video! YES YES! I love it. I love the movie The Birds. One time I spent the night at my aunt's house and we watched it, I had never seen it before and loved it! So fun and a great memory. Have a great week!

  27. I love that certain books just seem to beg to be read during the fall or winter. I can't wait to read your holiday book reviews!

  28. I hate the cold, and I'm in Texas, so you can just imagine how I'd be in the upper Midwest! I spent 3 winters in St Louis and I'm so glad to be out of there! I do miss the fall though!

I'm so interested in Trust Me, I'm Lying! This is the first time I've seen it, but it has my attention! Enjoy your new books and have a great week :)
